Kassandra Hotels with Balcony

A good, above average, but not a great hotel. The biggest issue with the hotel is noise. There is a late bar less than 100m from the hotel. We unfortunately had two weeks of disturbed sleep, with thumping music regularly going on until 4am, along with people then leaving the bar into the early hours. We slept with ear plugs, but could still hear / feel the bass most nights. There is also a beach bar next door, again with loud music and a consistent deep bass through out the day. Which is fine, if that's what you want from your holiday, but not ideal for families, who don't want to be out all night. The hotel itself is clean, with amazing staff. The location on the beach is great, with lots of sun loungers. The Beach Crew / Bar Staff work extremely hard and do a great job. The rooms are small and basic, with low quality beds and mattresses. Our bed creaked and groaned like it was ready to collapse. Breakfast is good, but not exceptional. The 'Guest Shower' room is a joke. Very small shower in a staff area of the hotel, next to staff lockers, storage and staff staircase. Members of staff walked in as we were changing. I personally wouldn't describe the hotel as 5 Stars based upon all of the above. We did have a really great holiday in the Kallithea area, but the hotel and consistent noise didn't meet expectations. I personally would not recommend on the basis of the consistent noise. It really depends what you are looking for. Things to be aware of. The roads and steep steps into town are in total darkness at night, as the few street lights are broken. You'll therefore need a torch or your phone. The amount of rubbish and plastic on the roads around the hotel is disgusting (not the hotel's direct fault), but I do question where the new Environment Tax is being spent. Clearly not on actually cleaning up the environment. This was the same for various other beach locations we visited in the area. The hotel charge a transaction fee on all non EU credit cards. They state this is mandatory, but non of the bars, shops, super markets or restaurants charge a fee. Food and drink at the hotel is expensive, definitely 5 Star prices. But there are plenty of places in town that are much better value. Kallithea is a new town, with mix of bars, restaurants, takeaways, shops and arcades. If you want something more traditional Greek, then Afitos, a few miles down the road, is the place to visit.

This is a nice hotel but it should be rated a 4 star. The location is great - it opens right out on to the beach. The hotel is very clean, the drink selection is good, there are plenty of sun beds. It’s a very short walk into Hanioti - 5/10 mins. There is a lifeguard at the pool daily which was great - he was so friendly, helping with the parasols and greeting us each day. There is no kids club despite it being advertised . However, there were two evenings (Tuesday and Friday) when the entertainment team put on games, face painting, dancing which our daughter really enjoyed. The food is nice but it is very limited - we ate out 3 times during our stay. For a 5 star resort, I would expect someone cooking pancakes/omelettes/pasta dishes. But it was the same meals on rotation each lunch and dinner time and often the food was luke warm or sometimes even cold. There were no theme nights and there are no other on site restaurants to eat at. The room was quite cramped - we had two twin beds made up as a double, a single sofa bed and a camp bed for a family of four. It was very much like we were all sleeping in one bed together. We were the only English guests during our stay so our children only had each other to interact with. Some families were given preferential treatment by the manager with fruit/meat platters, champagne, reserved seating during the Greek night which was a shame. We had emailed the hotel before our stay to let them know it was our wedding anniversary during our stay but this had been ignored. It is our second time in Halkidiki and we would love to return one day but I don’t think we would choose this hotel again.
