We are a family of 7+, just returned from our fourth Christmas break in Ballynahinch Castle. Ballynahinch Castle has to be one of the very best hotels in Ireland. Everything about this hotel is exceptional, especially the staff. From the initial engagement with reservations right through to departure, every member of staff we encountered went above and beyond to ensure we were being well looked after and enjoying our stay. It’s impossible to mention all by name but John the night porter was a standout, so much so that some of our family waited up at night to meet him. They then spent hours detaining him from his duties!! The manager Eoin effortlessly glides around, checking on all his guests, inquiring as to their wellbeing and ensures they are being cared for. All meals whether in the restaurant or the bar were excellent. Bedrooms, lounges, welcoming open fires, and all aspects of the hotel were extremely comfortable. Woodland walks, the hotel grounds, and lakeside saunas were all availed of and thoroughly enjoyed. We are already looking forward to our next visit.

I could not have loved my stay more. It was everything I wanted. Everything is beautiful - the building, the setting, the rooms, and the staff was wonderful. I happened to have a cold and laryngitis when I was there, and everyone asked about me and was offering me tea with honey and lemon. I couldn't recommend it more. Loved it.

The hotel itself was lovely however, I left an expensive coat in my room after a few months I realised and called the hotel. Reception said they would look into it a day later I got a call back to say they could not locate it. When you are paying that kind of money you would expect they would make contact with you surely when they found the coat in the room you would think they would contact you. Very Disappointing.

I have enjoyed the food and drinks at this hotel during my stay. The atmosphere is very peaceful, and the surrounding views are truly amazing. I loved taking photos to add to my personal collection. I will definitely come back again with my family.

For our 50th wedding anniversary our children gave us vouchers for Ballynahinch Castle. We didn’t get to use them until 5 years later but were still honoured with great good humour. We were greeted by a smiling Michael who took all our luggage to our room and then gave us a tour of the castle, magnificent fires in every room. That evening we met Neasa Linahan, a member of the bar staff. This young girl has the energy of Michel O’Leary, the focus of Darina Allen, and the good humour of Brendan Grace. In the morning we were greeted by Pat and Brid in the Magnificnt breakfast room., a magnificent banquet. This is a hotel without television, background music or phones. On leaving Niall was front of house, gave us directions how to get through Galway quickly. This is a 4 star hotel with 5 star staff. Truly one of the great hotels in Ireland! Having stayed recently at Ballinahinch Castle, my husband asked me to write a review praising the establishment. This request instantly prompted me to write a sparkling review . Of course, it helped that I was equally as impressed with Ballinahinch Castle which is set in beautiful Connemara in Co Galway. From the get go, we were given a 'Céad Míle Fáilte' by the receptionist and porter who insisted on bringing our bags to our beautiful room which was spacious, spotless and comfortable. Our dining experience in the Owenabue restaurant was first class and made special by the staff who were professional , friendly and good humoured. The food was beautifully prepared and presented. It also tasted wonderful. The menu was carefully chosen with some lovely fish from nearby Atlantic offered. Breakfast was truly special. It was a relaxing experience and no on felt rushed. Pat managed the dining room seamlessly and chatted to people at each table in turn. In short, 'beimid ar ais' (we will be back) but at a time when daylight hours are longer and we can maximise our visit to take in the majestic scenery that surrounds Ballinahinch Castle. Maith sibh go léir.. tá sibh ag déanamh sár job!! I cannot wait to return.

Not the castle of your dreams Unfortunately, hospitality is not their strong suit however the grounds were enchanting. Both reception and dining staff were stiff and cold. Stayed two floors down from the main level and moldy smell detracted from the lovely room.

Amazing anniversary We first heard of Ballynahinch from a video on old Irish castles, so it was nice to see it with our own eyes. Despite staying for only one night in a Luxury double room with a river view, we truly enjoyed our time there. The room was really spacious, with the huge bathroom being preceded by a walk-in closet and also having both a walk-in shower and a bathtub. Be it night or day, the view from the room and outdoor patio was mesmerising. Being our 5th anniversary, an additional surprise was a greeting card marking the occasion left in our room. Having arrived really late, we only had time for dinner that evening and it was a great experience. Both the drinks and food were interesting and delicious. For breakfast we had a table with a nice river view and the food options were plentiful. Before leaving, we also had a lovely walk around the property, which is truly amazing. We would definitely come back for another serene and relaxing stay in the future. P.S. If you have the time, the Sky Road starting in Clifden offers amazing views and is not to be missed.
