Beyond mad and irritated. Many members of my family and I have been staying at this Hampton one weekend a year for the last 25 years. Almost always request the same room near the elevator as it makes it convenient for me to go outside and smoke. First night, noticed that the carpet near the AC was soaked so I notified front desk. They sent someone to change out the AC and offered to move me to another room. Due to convenient location, I opted to stay where I was. Maintenance brought a blower fan to to try and dry the carpet. He ked out Sunday and settled my bill. Weeks later, I noticed that I had been charged an additional $250. Took some time to finally reach and talk to manager to the manager. She said the charge was for smoking in room. That room had to be deoderized for days to get smell out. My guess is that the odor was either already present (just read other reviews about musty smell) or that it was due to the wet carpet from the AC. In the end, she refused to budge. As far as I'm concerned, they stole $250 from me. Hope that $250 helps. I know that will be my last stay at your hotel. Will talk to others in my family and see if they want to find somewhere else to stay as well. That's perhaps 16 to 20+ nights in total.
