Our third stay at the Old Vicarage B & B in Barnstaple and another excellent experience. Our room (number 3) was spacious, spotlessly clean with excellent amenities great decor and a large, comfortable king-sized bed. The separate bathroom was well appointed with a great walk-in shower with a rain head and hand held appliance both of which were easy to operate and produced copious amounts of hot water with good water pressure. Breakfast was delicious with an excellent selection including cereals, home made yoghurt, fresh fruit and a good range of cooked options, toast and muffins and jams and honey. It was wonderful to get the delicious afternoon cake baked by Sandy each day of our stay. Sandy and Bryan are excellent hosts and it was lovely to catch up with them again. The Old Vicarage B & B is very conveniently situated in a quite area of Barnstable but only a short walk to the town centre, restaurants, cinema and theatre. the railway station and bike hire for the Tarka trail. Sandy and Bryan are a first class act and should also be running courses in how to run a B&B properly! They certainly deserve such consistent glowing praises. I was passing through on my travels so only stayed one night but have every intention in coming back. Thank you Keith

We had a lovely few days at The Old Vicarage. Bryan and Sandi were welcoming, our room was beautiful and the bed was extremely comfy. Utterly quiet - didn't hear a thing. Breakfast was great - wonderful choice with fresh fruit, homemade yoghurts and cooked breakfast as well. Plus homemade jams and marmalade. Would love to return - highly recommended.

5 Star experience from end to end. Greeted warmly by the hosts and shown to the most beautifully renovated and decorated (not to mention spotlessly clean and tidy) room, with fresh cake lying in wait!! BTW, freshly baked cake appears each day of your stay. Breakfast is a treat with a plentiful selection of cereals, yoghurts, fruit and juices, and numerous hot offerings. 5 minute walk to the centre of Barnstaple for pubs, cafes and restaurants. Would stay here again in a heartbeat.

We've just spent three nights at this beautiful Victorian house where Sandi and Bryan have been perfect hosts. The breakfasts have been delicious and the room was large, light and very comfortable. The two armchairs in our room made for relaxing evenings. Although within a few minutes walk of the centre of Barnstaple, there was no sound of traffic at all. You can see that Sandi and Bryan have put in a lot of work to make the house so good and we're not surprised it's the No.1 B & B in Barnstaple.

A warm welcome was made after or long journey to Barnstaple - Brian and Sandi are excellent hosts and the accommodation is top-notch. This is no so-so B&B that's seen better days, the Old Vicarage is tastefully decorated, with much thought put into the interior design. The nicest touch that we've ever experienced is a piece of home-made cake each day left in the room ready for when getting back after exploring the area. Breakfast was spot-on, a range of cereals, compot and of course the full english - efficiently presented on time by the completion of a simple tickbox form left outside the door in the evening. Everything was cooked to perfection and there was no feeling of being rushed to get finished and out... Our room was simply divine! The bed was very comfortable, with lots of room to relax in - the ensuite bathroom (in room 1 - can't speak for the others) was better than many 4+ star hotels that I've stayed in. A HUGE free-standing bath as well as a large separate shower with no lack of water pressure! There is plenty of parking on-site. We're going back next year!

My wife and I returned from a relaxing 3 day break. All the reviews are true. We could find no fault at the Old Vicarage. Wonderful, laid back hosts, Bryan and Sandi and amazing accommodation and breakfast. Tucked away in wonderful grounds but very handy to the town centre. Hospitality over and above with extra home baked cake each day delivered to our room. Thank you Bryan and Sandi for making our stay so memorable

Our second stay at the Old Vicarage in Barnstable with another great experience matching our first stay last year. The standard of service, breakfast and our room were all excellent. It was lovely to catch up with Sandi and Bryan, the proprietors, who take every step to ensure a comfortable stay. We look forward to our next visit to the Old Vicarage. Charles and Ann Webb
