A lovely hotel in a beautiful setting with a lot of history. The staff are friendly and helpful, the food good and the lounge and bedrooms, although the latter are small, are comfortable. The only down side for us was the many steps which make it unsuitable for the elderly as does the very strong springs on the bedroom doors which make them difficult to open and almost impossible to close quietly.

Lovely hotel in a beautiful location. The staff are very helpful. The manager called me a week ahead of our booking to see if there was anything we needed and to book us into the restaurant. The hotel is very welcoming to dogs and we dined in the lovely Henry's pub, which also welcomes dogs. The food was delicious. Really great full English breakfast the next morning. Would recommend.

Unique setting and an ideal stopping point when walking the Solent Way. However we felt it was over priced for the quality of the room. A pleasant enough room but the bed was worn sloping from the centre to both sides and the toilet flush didn’t work effectively and there was no toilet brush. All staff were delightful friendly and helpful. The food in the pub was good and the service excellent.

"Old Fashioned" hotel in lovely riverside setting. Room was clean and tidy if somewhat quirky and food both in the restaurant and bar was very good. The staff throughout were helpful, polite and a credit to the hotel and we would certainly visit again.

We enjoyed our previous stay in May so much that we had to return. This time we stayed in room 22 (Husar) - One of the Riverview rooms in the main hotel and what a fabulous room it was. Very spacious, well equipped (including a fridge), extremely comfortable bed and views to die for. We stayed again for 5 nights and dined in Henry's with our two dogs every evening. The food was absolutely superb every night. Breakfast is delicious and with plenty of choice and the staff are all so welcoming, attentive and friendly. We were expecting bad weather but we actually had very good weather and managed to walk to Beaulieu on two separate days. This is a really fabulous walk following the river and we would thoroughly recommend this to other guests. We also spent a day at Exbury Gardens again and on another day we walked all around Lepe Country Park and right along Lepe Beach to Stanswood Bay where there are the remains of buildings used for D Day. The dogs loved running along the beach on the way there. A truly dog friendly hotel where they supply dog beds and treats - we bought both our dogs beds with us but they preferred to sleep in the ones supplied by the hotel! We found the hotel so relaxing and spent many hours just watching the world go by from the hotel gardens, terrace, lounge and from our room window - absolute bliss! This really is the most wonderful and relaxing place to stay and we will be returning again and again.

A fascinating property with both modern and historical aspects.The location is perfect ,the hotel accommodation was excellent.The staff polite and very helpful (Special mention to the lady heading up the restaurant who was very accommodating.)We enjoyed every aspect of this break.

The whole experience was amazing and the staff were welcoming, even the dog had a bed ,bowl and welcome hamper. The staff couldn't of done anything more to make the experience more comfortable. Highly recommend and looking forward to going there again. Just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone we met and interacted with.
