Absolutely amazing experience at the Montagu Arms! We stayed in the Court Yard retreat and it was perfection. The room was huge and very clean (including the bathroom which had both a shower and bath!). The decor was perfect both in and outside the room. The staff were so friendly and made us feel really welcome! We also had a festive afternoon tea which was delicious - they allowed us to take back a box for any leftovers which was lovely! The gardens surrounding the hotel are so beautiful, I can imagine it’s amazing in the summer as well. Can’t recommend this hotel enough, they have all the small details that make your stay exceptional including a bag with a snack and water for your journey home. 10/10 thank you so much!

This is the umpteenth stay we’ve had over the years at the Montagu Arms Hotel. It never fails to deliver. It’s comfortable, with those added little extras that make it a luxury but unpretentious hotel. From the freshly made tea & coffee delivered to your room each morning (you have no need to ram a kettle under the sink here!) to the freshly made flapjacks on your tea tray – everything is just perfect. The staff are lovely - we were greeted by Vince on arrival who thought it no trouble at all to take our heavy bags to our room and Jackie and Martha who served our cooked breakfast each day (and even remembered our order!). Paul and Mark were always availble throught the day to provide a cuppa or soft drink. Cassie looked after us in Monty’s, the pub attached to the hotel and we were delighted to find they had extended their menu by several more dishes. All in all we had a wonderfully relaxing four night stay much needed after a hospital stay the previous month. We’ll be back again in 2025 and looking forward to the merging of the Terrace restaurant with Monty’s.

Went for a couple drinks and a bite to eat to celebrate a friends success straight away I was welcomed by staff when food came out it was very presentable and the taste was immaculate was very impressed with the service this one lady Lisa accompanied us most of the night and met all of our requirements lovely lady would recommend to locals or if your visiting will be going back for sure brilliant restaurant and hotel.

An amazing room, excellent service and friendly staff (thank you Emma on Reception). Breakfast was good. A beautiful old hotel in a lovely village surrounded by good walks. It was impressively decorated for Christmas inside and out. The bar is good, friendly staff and cosy seating with a fire. We didn’t eat there as had evening plans however I was told the food is nice.

We had a fantastic time at this hotel! Beautiful hotel that was decorated so nicely for Christmas. All of the team were so lovely and kind. Room was fab, exactly what we needed and breakfast was great too. We loved that we could bring the doggies too. Would definitely recommend!

Visited the Montague Arms for a baby shower on Sunday 15.12.24, we had our own room , decorated very festively and all the staff were very attentive and friendly, the afternoon tea was delicious and all our food needs were met without an issue, we had a wonderful time celebrating what will be the arrival of twins in January, precious photos of all were taken by the incredibly helpful and friendly Emma from reception . Thank you for a wonderful afternoon.

The service and the restaurant food were very good. The pub area was chilly at lunchtime so we decamped to the main hotel where there was a log fire. The room was also comfortable and the grounds were interesting, very well kept and worth a wander. They were quite unique and would be their best in summer. Yes we would return.

What a fantastic stay ! The staff are wonderfully welcoming and we were made to feel very special as guests The ambience at Christmas is lovely. We sat at to a beautifully decorated hearth for afternoon tea with the fire glowing totally relaxed This is a fantastic independent hotel to relax in and feel totally at ease Extremely highly recommended

We stayed for two nights in a Hayloft Barn with our two small dogs for a Birthday weekend treat. From the moment we arrived to departure, the whole staff team were amazing - friendly, informative, nothing was too much trouble and our dogs had an incredibly warm welcome too!! The hotel is something very special and we will definitely be returning.
