Sofitel Beijing Central Reviews

It was a below average experience. The room they gave us at first was bad. Paint was peeling everywhere. When we complained they immediately changed the room to a renovated one. The location was central but there was nothing around the hotel within walking distance. No cafeterias, shops or restaurants. The breakfast area is in the basement which is tightly packed and gloomy. Overall an underwhelming experience. The rating and reviews are misleading.

i got lots of help from lin, i checked in late and the process was quick and sound. she gave me usefull information on how to get around from the hotel. the room was clean and spacious i book for 1 room for 5 nights and she help set up the room with the extra bed so that my family of 4 can fit comfortably. my kids was so excited with this hotel even had a bathup and swim. eventough our schedule is tight. thanks lin and sofitel, btw attraction was close by and public transport is close (quojiangmen) sub train station, thanks beijing thanks china and sofitel for the beautiful trip.

It’s a well maintained hotel in the central location of Beijing. Room facility and services are excellent, and the only area to be improve is the breakfast, as it’s less variety of foods and not high standard of service compared to many similar standards of international hotels.

Staff at Sofitel Beijing are welcoming and service level you can expect are on par with other 5 star international hotel brands around the world (although this is definitely not the case everywhere in China). There are numerous hotels in Beijing to chose from, but I have decided to come back to the Sofitel everytime, simply because I know I will get the same level of service and etiquette. A special shout out to Clarey and Leah for their professionalism and customer service which made my stay that much more enjoyable. The deluxe rooms are very very generally sized and the suites on the top floors have some of the largest floor space in my experience. One downside of a nice, fancy, modern decor is that it uses many different materials and does not hide general wear and tear well, leaving scratches and scrapes that looks worse than it is. Comfort level of the hotel is definitely the main draw card. Makes it difficult to want to leave the hotel. But the subway is a 5 min walk if you want to get around during peak hour to avoid traffic congestion, otherwise getting around with DiDi or taxis are fairly cheap where ever you go with the hotel’s location.

Worst ‘five star’ hotel experience in whole of China, not just Beijing. The whole hotel hallway and room is always smelling of cigarette smoke. When contacted, the staff always say they can’t do anything about ‘individual behaviour in rooms’ of guests, even by law all hotels are meant to be ‘smoke free’ and despite there is clear notice about smoking is prohibited by law and will attract fine everywhere including on each bedside table in the room ! The whole place is badly maintained as well. The breakfast venue is like a circus with no crowd control or tables being assigned properly ! Am surprised Sofitel is willing to be associated with such sub standard product / service !

I was very impressed by the Sofitel in Beijing, at night at check in I was helped by miss Leah Xu, she was very patient and kind, even after I arrived very late at night, wonderful hotel room, very nice design and comfortable bed, I will definitely be coming back again to this amazing hotel, also the next morning at Check out I was kindly helped by miss Cici Liu, also an excellent manager with very good communication skills, I shall hope they stay within the Sofitel management team, both, thank you

Picked this hotel after searching for a lot of hotels in Beijing. The hotel is located abt 5 mins walking distance away from the train station. Ms Ella from front desk is very nice, she helped us upgrade the room to the higher floor and tried her best to get the room ready as early as possible for my kid. The manger Wang from the reception is also very professional, he even gave us 2 bottles of water upon our leaving. Overall the service of the hotel is very good, room is spacious with 2 big beds. It's value for the price. Highly recommended!

Sofitel is super awesome! We got a family suite and the staff even helped set up the sofa bed for my kid. We love the huge tub. Shout out to Miss Linda Li at the front desk for the best service

Got our room upgraded which was awesome as we had an active toddler, he enjoyed the big space so much. Receptionist 小徐was super patient and helpful with our requests and questions. Overall it was a wonderful stay! Would totally come back again!

The hotel is quite new. All facilities are in good condition. The location of the hotel is also very good. We enjoy the stay. Front Desk Ms Zhang Miya and Ms. Xu Leah is so wonderful. They are kind, always ready to help. We really appreciate their services. Hope to meet them again during next trip.

The service staff hardly speak English and not very helpful enough for me as a family who have little baby.

Very good hotel. Some troubles with the elevator and the bathroom had a weird smell for a few hours when we arrived. Otherwise it is a very convenient location in the centre of Beijing.

Our stay at Sofitel Beijing Central was comfortable. Rooms were clean and spacious. Staff were very friendly, and assisted when needed. Ms Candy from the breakfast was remarkable. She was extremely nice. The breakfast spread was fantastic. We will surely stay here during our next visit to Beijing.

I travel a lot due to work and I have been in many hotels of Accor Group. In Korea, I usually stayed in the Sofitel Ambassador and arrived with confident expectations that the Sofitel in Beijing was a good choice. The hotel interior and design is quite dark and does not really fit the image of Sofitel branding as all. We spent quite a long time during the check-in process, but we're grateful when we received free upgrades. As we arrived at our rooms, we needed to realize that the rooms were really worn out, there were many scratches on the interior walls as it seemed kids have played bingo on the bathroom door. Cleanness was ok, but not on a level of a 5-star hotel. As we arrived next morning to the restaurant, it was chaos. There was no service personnel present to check in you as a guest, people were helping themselves to get new cutlery and plates as most of the tables were full of used dishes. I complained to one service manager who arrived later, and I appreciated that I received one bottle of wine, desserts, and fruits as a gratitude in the evening. The breakfast was better organized the day after. The service personnel barely speaks well English or very broken. The easiest questions as that I liked to have more coffee sachets in my room were not understood. At the end, I bought some coffee sticks by myself at a convenience store. At the check-out process, we spent 10 minutes again as they were not able to give me a printout for the added breakfasts, but could not explain to me why we needed to wait in English. The hotel needs strongly a management change and a make over. If you are fine with Chinese, it might have been a better experience, but the value that we spent there is not in line what we were receiving. I would never book accommodation there ever again.
