We deeply regret the inconvenience caused by the temporary blockage of the bathroom drain during your shower, as seen in your review and photos. Our reception operates 24 hours and can arrange immediate repairs within minutes. It was unacceptable for us to have allowed such a situation to occur. As a state-owned hotel with a long history, Beijing Dongdan Hotel may not meet all modern standards in terms of facilities and equipment. We are truly sorry for any issues encountered during your stay which led to your decision to cancel your reservation. The reception promptly agreed due to the late hour and even offered assistance when it seemed that another hotel had yet to confirm availability for an early check-in. There might have been some miscommunication regarding our intention when offering you continued accommodation here while deducting only one night's fee from the total cost if you chose otherwise. Additionally, we apologize for any inconvenience caused by Trip.com's feedback and have refunded half of the first night's room charge accordingly. We hope that this unpleasant experience at our hotel will not tarnish your overall impression of China or its beautiful ancient capital city - Beijing is clean and stunning despite any shortcomings in our facilities affecting your experience here.The management team takes this incident seriously and is urgently inspecting all bathrooms for slow drainage issues while also refining housekeeping details.
