Best Hotels near Tiananmen Square, Beijing

I stayed 31 nights during january 2024 at 7 days inn hotel. I chose this hotel because it was very close to the subway, in the center of Beijing and the heating system was good according to the reviews. I changed room the first day so I could have a little bit better room. The previous room had no universal charger and was very dark, the windows in front of a wall. My room was on the first floor, just next to the shared bathroom and to the water dispenser. The room was very big and quiet (unless people talk in the corridor), not a lot of light but some rooms has more sun light than others. No fridge inside but since it was january I put my food outside the windows if I wanted to keep it fresh. If you want to warm some food, you can use the microwage in the commun area but I never used it. The commun area is very close from the entrance door so it was very chilly. The staff was nice but almost no english. They explained to me how to use the washing machine and once the wifi was not working so they helped me. Internet was definetly not very good but I was able to watch youtube with my vpn. I will start now talking about the shared bathroom (which I already knew was shared when booking) but I didn't know the toilet would be squat toilets. I think if I knew before, I wouldn't choose this hotel. There was no lock in the toilets. The shower room has one and was very cold (because winter). The hot water was always there but I took my shower usually in the morning (so less people). The shared bathroom was dirty mostly because of clients that didn't clean after their buisness. There was regulary water on the floor so I was just going with my shoes on at some point. The washing machine was broken the first 2 weeks and then got replaced. I'm still a bit confused if clients can use it or only the staff, but I used it anyway. The area is maybe a bit empty at first but if you go to the Hong Qiao Pearl Market, in the basement there is a big food court where you can try chinese food (or subway and macdonalds). Overall I liked my journey in this hotel but I think it was too expensive for a shared bathroom this old and dirty. I paid 1000 euros for 31 days.

Hotel location is good, close to the Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square, convenient to eat, watch cross talk movies, convenient to the next door Deyun She Daguanlou Cinema, the day before yesterday, Lele's service attitude is very good, super good, there is a question and answer, the room is clean and neat

The hotel is located at Chongwenmen station. The B1 exit is right in front of hotel. However, there is no escalator at that exit. The closest one is at C exit and cross the road back. There are many shopping malls and restaurants at the opposite and the other road at the nearest intersection. The staff was nice and could speak English. We had earlu check-in. However, there was no available room at that time, so the staff upgraded our room and we could do early check-in. The room was spacious and clean. There were several things that I would suggest to improve. 1. The air conditioner should be switched to cooling mode on hot or warm days. 2. On the first day, there was smoking smell in the room. just for the first day. We booked for non-smoking, but I also found this problem with other hotel I used to stay. 3. in April, there was pollen dispersal during that time. it wouldl be better if the window was close all the time. There was a day that staff might forget to close the window and those pollen spreaded into the room. Fortunately, the hotel provided air purifier and that really help for problem 2 and 3.

To be honest, after reading the reviews before checking in, I was still worried about this hotel because of the smelly sewers. I'm afraid the air conditioner won't heat up. But after moving in, all these worries disappeared! The room was very clean and the air conditioner was super hot! ! Who can believe it? For a southerner, I have to turn off the air conditioner at night and open the windows for ventilation to feel less hot! ! It was really useless to worry about it before ~ ​​and the location of the hotel is really good. It's very close to Qianmen, Dashilar and the fresh fish mouth! It’s also very convenient to take Metro Line 8!

The building is beautiful, and the bedrooms are very comfortable. By and large we slept very well. However, there are annoying, ”Ryanair-like” little scams that do not make you feel in a five-stars hotel. We were charged an extra 30 RMB for no reason for the room, an extra 20 RMB for peanuts that we did not order at the bar, 60 RMB for a bottle of water in the room, etc. We were also disturbed unnecessarily at 10 pm in our room (first by a phone call, then by an employee who forced us to answer the phone call), apparently because one employee had refunded us by mistake. I later suggested the manager make a gesture in return, and to this day I'm still waiting.

Friendly and helpful staff, from front desk, house keeping to security. High tech appliances, felt a bit like hillbillies going down to town for the first time

The location of Park Plaza is excellent, just one minute walk to the nearest subway station (Dengshikou station Exit C). Walking to different attractions such as Forbidden City and Wangfujing shopping areas is also easy. The room is spacious and comfortable. The hotel service is good and the breakfast buffet has sufficient variety with both western and Asian cuisines. Something to note is that we found the room to be rather warm on return from a day out. The air-con was set at 27 degC couldn’t be varied. The outside temperature during our stay was between 5 degC at night and 20 degC in daytime. The hotel management informed us that it was government regulation to save energy. To assist, the management provided us a large room fan. That and opening the side windows helped tremendously to lower the temperature. Overall, we enjoyed our stay in this hotel and highly recommend it.
