Although our room was clean and breakfast was great the rest of our experience of this hotel let us down. We arrived to check in and were made to wait while one member of staff served at the bar what seemed like a never ending stream of customers. The food in the cafe wasn’t great either. The next morning there was a sign on the toilets to say cleaning was in progress, the same staff member said we could use them but the floor might be wet, I find that hard to believe as both male and female were filthy. We will not be staying here again. To sum it up, clean room but overall dreadful experience

Comfortable family room looking out to sea. Staff were very friendly & welcoming, especially Vicky who showed us to our room & sorted the heating for us. Very nice breakfast in the morning, pleasant surroundings & good value for money overall.

This was a good value hotel with pleasant staff & a good cooked breakfast included in the price. We knew when we booked it that there was nothing walkable nearby & that wasn’t a problem. We visited Cragside, Amble, Seahouses & Druridge Bay other places. Close proximity to A1 but didn’t hear any road noise. Lovely views over open fields from the bedroom with the sea & Bamburgh castle in the distance. Rooms were clean & had everything we needed. Stayed 2 nights & were very happy with our stay overall.

Broke our journey to Aberdeen here for 1 night. The room was very clean, well presented & had a glorious view over fields to Bamburgh castle & the sea. There were hares chasing each other outside our window- couldn't believe we were right next to the A1 as there was no traffic noise, even when we slept with our window open. The room is a bit beige, but nothing wrong with it. The instructions for the shower weren't for the actual shower that we had- different type entirely, but worked it out. Can only comment on breakfast as we ate out in the evening.Breakfast was tasty & plentiful- shame they didn't have the advertised croissants. Would stay here again.

This place is ideally located for Bamburgh Castle and the Northumberland coast. From the moment we checked in the staff could not have been more helpful. I was worried about the roadside location but the room faced away from the road and there was no noise, just a beautiful view across the farmland to the castle. The room was very clean with a king size bed and heating you have full control over. Breakfast was cooked to order and veggie was available
The only reason I have given 4 stars is that we usually prefer a more characterful place and this is a built for purpose property

Just had a great two night stay at Purdy Lodge. At first look the location is not great but once inside you don't hear any road noise and the views from our room over fields towards Bamburgh are exceptional The place is spotless, the staff are brilliant and friendly. We ate in the restaurant both nights, food was very good as was breakfast. We were very well looked after and will certainly return.

After travelling up to Scotland from York this was a half way point to stop over to see some sights….on arrival my initial thought was oh. But we were instantly greeted by a lovely lady and the place is cute and clean in reception and the bar. We went to our room and yes it’s dated looking but so clean and we instantly felt relaxed the room compared to the travel lodges we stayed in during our trip was cosy and welcoming….the view of bambrugh castle and the wildlife was fab. We couldn’t hear any of the a1 noise. We dined for an evening meal and it was exceptional….proper chips 👌🏻 we had breakfast too and again exceptional. The ladies are a credit to this place and work so hard we enjoy d our stay here and would definitely recommend and return again
