This is an excellent hot spring resort hotel, highly recommended.
The charming and vast view of Beppu Bay is intoxicating! Japanese-style log design and modern Korean style are presented at the same time. This is an amazing hot spring hotel!
The room is clean and tidy, the space is spacious and comfortable, and the view from the balcony is first-class. It is winter now, but if it is spring, summer and autumn, I believe it will be even better! The semi-open-air private hot spring is very comfortable and relaxing, and the hard work on the road completely disappears!
All staff were very friendly, (including the restaurant staff) and professional. The temperature today was only 1 degree. When we arrived at the hotel, there was already a staff member waiting outside the door despite the cold wind. Seeing his friendly smile, we immediately felt warm and as if we were at home. He took the initiative to help us carry our luggage. And delivered to the room. When watching the video introduction of hotel facilities in the lobby, they included desserts and snacks, which was very considerate; in the restaurant, every detail was attentive and the service was attentive. When we left after finishing the meal, the staff bowed until we disappeared, such a tradition The dedicated culture is truly admirable!
The hotel is located in the middle of the mountain. We did not drive ourselves. There is a taxi on the right side of the JR exit. It takes about ten minutes, which is very convenient.
Thank you to all the hotel staff for your warm hospitality. We will choose to stay here again if we come back next time.

Really enjoyed this unique hotel that has a mix of art, onsen, great views and decent food. The room (419) was not luxurious but was well designed, the balcony overlooked the extraordinary landscape that is Beppu, the greatest feature was the semi open-air onsen bath facilitated by the floor to ceiling windows, connected to the generous deck space. It was fun to walk around the gallery space and admire the interesting architecture, color palettes, and exhibits championing Beppu culture, landscape, flora, fauna etc. Sitting in the Peak restaurant for dinner, I was amused that one of the waitstaff was a robot that ferried food and empty dishes back and forth. Dinner was laid-back, had a window side seat that allowed me to enjoy the city glitter below. My stay here was at a fraction of another Beppu hotel on this trip, in many ways I enjoyed this place more and would not hesitate to come back.

Overall, I felt the hotel was very nicely done with great local touches while still keeping an international atmosphere. I also wanted to point out the great flexibility of the hotel, allowing me to change my meal reservations from 3 dinners at Elements (I was on a package deal) to one at Elements and combining the remaining two meals at Elements to a dinner at Atelier. This allowed me to not have to dine at the same restaurant as well as opening up a slot for me to explore a local restaurant. However, there were two things that I'd like to point out that the hotel can improve upon. The first is the staffing at the club lounge (and in general) is not enough. There were many moments where I was left to wait, to the point where using standard facilities (like the check-in counter, or breakfast at Elements) would have been a more positive experience. Breakfast on 12/21 was where the understaffing really showed, where it took over an hour to complete breakfast; many guests left in the middle of their meal since service was horribly slow. However, the second point us what I would really want the hotel to work on - CoVID countermeasures. Largely, two things I'd like to point out. (1) Temperature screening us inconsistent. I was checked when I first arrived, but never anytime afterwards (or should I say, the thermometer station was unmanned). (2) During my meal at Atelier, my wife and I noticed that the staff (He was Italian, I think his name is Marco?) preparing the dishes (in the open kitchen) prepping a sauce, tasting it with the same spoon which was quickly rinsed it under the faucet and returned into the mixing bowl. I pointed this out to one of the servers (Japanese male, responsible for serving and explaining the dishes). This is where I felt the hotel can improve on - in detail, three things. (i) The Japanese server proceeded to quietly scold the staff in front of me, I felt that was not a great experience both for myself and the staff. (ii) Nothing was cleared. After the scolding (and then the staff responding back that he did not put the spoon back in) none of the utensils were changed and no follow up. I guess there is no trust in what a customer points out. And finally (iii) I felt that this is at the fault of the hotel for not putting in proper operation guidelines.A person putting together a meal will need to taste it, to make sure it's good. If the hotel were to put in operational guidelines to ensure tasting can be done while still making it very obvious that it is hygienic, I would not have to be writing this email. Needless to say, our dinner experience was ruined that night. I actually shared the above comment with IHG Guest Relations (on 25 Dec), which the agent was extremely prompt on getting back to me and assured that I would get a response back from the hotel about it within 48 hours. Unfortunately, the hotel never contacted me. I then asked guest relations again (on 5 Jan) to follow up with th

My wife booked this hotel for us for our weekend in Beppu. We selected this hotel based on the price, parking, and location. It is within walking distance to the train station and down town area. They have parking here which is a plus. The staff was very friendly, the individual helping us spoke great English which made check in/out easy. They have breakfast here, because of COVID, it was not buffet style, but the trays were nice and the food was great. The rooms were perfect, they were modern, spacious, and had everything we needed, plus the bed was comfortable. Overall, we had a great stay here.

Here is a 5-sentence hotel review:
Beppa Hatto (BHONP) hotel provided an excellent stay during my recent family trip. The room was spacious, clean, and well-equipped, and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful throughout my visit. I especially appreciated the convenient downtown location and the high-quality on-site facilities. Overall, the BHONP offered great value and exceeded my expectations, and I would happily stay here again on my next trip to the area.

We booked the Sora western room type, which was described as having two double beds and three futon beds. However, upon arrival, I didn't see any futon beds in the room nor were they offered. In terms of service, I expected a better introduction to the rooms given the price I am paying. We received a very simple introduction to the common area, but didn't get a room tour showing where things are located, which Yukata to wear indoors and outdoors, etc. I've paid a similar price for another onsen hotel where we received a much better reception upon arrival. We did ask for breakfast in the room for more privacy, and while we were able to do that for half the price at other hotels in Fukuoka, the staff didn't seem to understand when we asked about it. Overall, the amenities and room are really good, but service-wise, it's hit or miss.

Travel with a group of friends to Beppu but only 4 of us decided to stay at Amanek for 2 nights. This was the best decision ever as we were closed to the JR station, eateries, Tokiwa shopping mall, Donki and the beach were within walking distance. Only few staff could speak English. Those who speak Japanese only also try their best to serve the guest. I am impressed by how clean and new the whole hotel is. Best of all, I love the free flow of juices & beverages. You could also do take away in the UCC coffee disposible cup. Love the choice of either western or local breakfast with free flow of side dishes. I am surprised by how big the bedroom is and spacious bathroom. The gym equipment tho basic, are new & in good condition. The onsen is clean & modern & I love the warm rooftop pool with an awesome view! Amanek is thoughtful to provide guest with a basket to hold all your onsen needs. Upon check out, I was overcharged for my 2 days of breakfast. The staff was quick to rectify the problem & refunded me on the spot. Yes, would definitely stay in Amanek again in my next visit to Beppu! Thank you for the awesome stay!

I was inspired to make a room with an open-air bath. The view was good because it was a relatively high floor with the 8th floor. However, the walls of the open-air bath were high, so I couldn't enjoy the scenery while soaking in the open-air bath. Dinner was a menu that reflected the ingredients and food culture of Oita Prefecture. The drinks I ordered were priced with a price display including consumption tax and service fee, which was the same as an izakaya. It was an inn like a theme park, such as a view footbath and a handbath, and a night market and a juggling band at night.

Excellent service, food, view, room - oh, what could I complain about? Everything felt amazing from the moment I entered the hotel. The hotel had a no-shoe policy, and they maintained it sparkly clean. The outdoor onsen was an infinite-pool onsen that was facing the ocean, which was mesmerizing. The breakfast buffet spread catered to my every-so-picky taste buds, and the restaurant was overlooking the sunrise. Other aspects of my stay that I greatly valued was the good quality of skincare products given and the incredible service. If I had to make one complaint, that would be the slight inconvenience of getting to-and-fro the hotel by bus on public holiday (taxi to the JR station is still affordable - about 850¥). If you drive, it would be amazing.

GGuest UserIt was an excellent experience in every aspect. Nothing beats a relaxing private onsen after each day out and the staff was so nice too. For what we got it was a very good price. The small houses are each unique and no matter which one you get, it'll look and feel nice. Beware that some of them are Futon only though.
There is no English translation for anything, but everything went smoothly with our small Japanese skills and Google Translate (the last of which could probably suffice by itself, especially as the staff is eager to throw in some English and Google Translate by themselves).
Thank you very much, we'll come again if we come to the Beppu area again.
Oonlywinxit's a small homey inn, amazing for cat lovers. you get to spend 1h in a room full of super friendly cats. their homemade breakfast and dinner is delicious and very filling - you even get to eat next to another room of cats!
the only downside is the location, which is 1 short train station (comes every 40mins) away from beppu station. it's a bit in the residential area, and the walk from higashibeppu station can get a bit quiet and dark, but overall still a great place to stay!
MMunChristinaOverall experience of staying at Seikaiso was very good. The location is close enough to the Beppu station(walking distance 10mins) and bus terminal is 2mins away. The best experience of this Ryokan is the hot springs and private bath on the rooftop. Breakfast is served per room on booking time with Japanese style breakfast. It was various dishes and delicious!
The front staff/restaurant staff/general staff are all friendly and helpful. Especially at the front desk staff Urabe was amazing. He also speak good English so it was very helpful. He helped us everything what we need. 🙏🏼
We will definitely go back to Seikaiso again.
CCHCheong173This hotel is about 10-15 mins walking from the JR Beppu station. It is easy to find as you just walk towards the seaside until you see the Beppu Tower beside a main road, the hotel is behind it. There is a 7-11 beside the tower, and a bus stop in front of the tower, so is quite convenient. If you take the bus to visit the 7 Beppu Hells starting from the JR station and follow the sequence, i.e. Chinoike and Tatsumaki Jigokus as the last two hells, and you take the bus towards the Beppu station, you can stop directly in front of the tower, this complete a full circle of your Beppu Hell tour. I booked a seaview Japanese room and the view is great. The room is also spacious for Japanese ryokan standard. There is some minor renovation and furniture replacement done, so the room is a mixture of new and worn. There are two onsen baths in this hotel: one at the top floor, an open air onsen bath and one at third floor, which is an indoor onsen bath. The dinner and breakfast are both average though. Overall, I am quite happy with my stay here.
GGuest UserThe room was clean and comfortable with many storage areas, but for an elderly mother with poor knees, the following points were few 々 problems. The threshold of the toilet door is too high, and it is difficult to cross the threshold. I was wondering if I could catch my leg. I have a hand indoors in the large communal bath, but I gave up using it because there was no handrail in the open-air bath. There are two types of bath chairs with different heights in the cherry blossom bath, but for my mother who has difficulty bent her knees deeply, all of them are low, and I finally sat down and washed my body while feeling pain in my knees. In the hotel I used in the past, there were many places where the bus chair with high seats was installed. I will also use those who have problems with their legs and waist, so I would be happy if you could improve this point.
MMeganBed sheets had water stains on them, but overall room was spotless and very nicely arranged. It was compact but comfortable. The toilet light was really dim, but that’s ok since I did my bathing in the various onsens around the town. The receptionists all spoke English and had helpful instructions printed out. Didn’t actually use the hotel public baths, maybe next time. The tv worked great and had no problems with the aircon either.
CChakuWhen I open the door, I was totally surprised! I can’t believe this high quality of the room it was at such cost efficient level. You got a washing machine, massage bath tumb, 2 double 1 single bed and even a kitchen.
Although you may not able to put your luggage ahead of later. There are many lockers near by the JR station. So no worries! All things is under control!
I strongly recommend you to take your cozy trip here!
EExplorer808551Due to the influence of the coronavirus, the capsule hotel floor was not open, so we stayed in a rental room (a capsule type room with an internal lock on the door) for one night. The biggest selling point of this facility is that for a stay of just over 3,000 yen, you can enter the natural hot spring ``Tengu no Yu'' 24 hours a day without any additional charges. As expected from Beppu, the city of hot springs♪ Although it is located one street away from the downtown area, it is still a leisurely 10 minute walk to Beppu Station. Recommended for those who want to stay overnight without meals at a low price.
VVacation811917While the Rugby World Cup was on the rise, I went to Oita Prefecture for work, and in Beppu, I used the price near the station. Until I arrived, I didn't know that the Rugby World Cup was being done in Oita. The hotel is close to the station, there are many restaurants and convenient location. The hotel is old, but there are hot springs and sauna, and it is an environment that is sufficiently satisfactory even for business use. In the morning, I was grateful for the free service of a drink at the cup drink vending machine in front of the front desk.
NNikita1114The word of mouth everywhere was quite bad and less 々 I visited while I was worried, but I thought it was quite improved. The room (Japanese room) was cleaned properly. The bathroom was cute with a retro tile. The ”callable seat” for dinner was delicious, and the charge was a trainee from foreign countries, but the language and the explanation of the dish were neat. I also saw a word of mouth that there is no basic cosmetics in the public bath, but now there is cosmetics and all in one gel. The gel was very fragrance and comfortable. I brought Kindle and movie DL, etc., and I was prepared to connect wifi, but I was able to connect quickly and use the video delivery site. However, it is unknown whether this was because of the strengthening of the facilities or whether the access point was not insufficient because the number of guests was extremely small. The only thing that was unfortunate was that I had a backrest top to hit the chair at the breakfast hall. It was good to bring a sterilization tissue. The front desk staff is also very good, and I think it can be said that it is good compared to the price if it is always like this.
