The host are very helpful, friendly and polite. The hot spring is awesome when you may enjoy it with a river view. The breakfast is nice too. Also, the homely inn is highly recommended for cats lovers. Just a mindless thing is that the host only speak Japanese but now the technique of translation is user friendly.

it's a small homey inn, amazing for cat lovers. you get to spend 1h in a room full of super friendly cats. their homemade breakfast and dinner is delicious and very filling - you even get to eat next to another room of cats! the only downside is the location, which is 1 short train station (comes every 40mins) away from beppu station. it's a bit in the residential area, and the walk from higashibeppu station can get a bit quiet and dark, but overall still a great place to stay!

First time in Beppu . This ryokan is 20 minutes walk from Beppu station . Very quiet neighborhood, the first family mart is at 10 minutes . So not that convenient . Beppu is very quiet most of the shops and restaurants closed down to the point I had a hard time to find somewhere to eat . And also the ryokan being so far away from everything didn’t help . As for the ryokan itself , very quiet , loved the onsen ( they have 3 separate , could use one on my own which was super nice !) the lady don’t speak English so didn’t have any contact with her or husband . The room was nice , she lent me 2 robes for the onsen . Shower and onsen on the first floor , rooms on the second . Everything was good but I would definitely recommend to stay 2 nights max , since not much to do in Beppu . Everything can be done in a day .

This ryokan is run by an old couple. The facilities aren't great for the price, but I highly recommend it if you like animals. The location isn't great, but if you want to travel leisurely, there are local restaurants 5 minutes away. I recommend stopping by on the way!

It's far from Beppu Station, so you have to take a bus. The surrounding area is a residential area, and many houses have their lights off at night, so it's a little scary. The kids are happy playing in the cat room... The owner doesn't speak English, so use Papago. There's a restaurant called Joyfull on the main road, so it's good for kids to eat. The room is old, but clean, and the hot spring is small, but enough for bathing.

Shared restrooms and bathrooms are really inconvenient. Many rooms are transparent glass rooms dedicated to raising cats. There is still a smell in the corridor. Dinner is relatively simple, so it is not recommended to order dinner in the restaurant. Not recommended to stay either

This store is very unique. It has more than 30 different types of cats, which are very loving. And the service attitude is very good. The food is good and the hot spring water is hot enough.

It was nice to have a separate hot spring for each room. And I highly recommend it to people who like cats. You must pay the hot spring tax levied by Beppu City separately. ^^ 250 yen per person per night

This ryokan is located within a 15-minute walk from Beppu Station and Higashi Beppu Station. There is a public hot spring, so you can take a hot spring bath, and it is located in a quiet neighborhood next to a river, making it a great place to rest quietly. The owner and everyone who served us were very friendly. Especially wherever you go inside this building, it’s a cat paradise! If you like cats, this is the best place to stay in Beppu.

The owner is a cat lover and has adopted many kittens. The environment is nice, breakfast and dinner are rich, and the service attitude of the hotel staff is very good.

This ryokan inn is famous for a cat called OMOCHI. He got the grand prix at the contest of inn cat held by Rakuten, Japanese wellknown website. OMOCHI and other cats are professionals of hospitality. Once you step into the cat room, they show their friendliness and come onto your lap. The spa has natural onsen water and the good news is guests don't have to share one bath with other visitors at the same time. I enjoyed my bath time on my own. Dinner and breakfast are traditional Japanese. I love shrimp tempura and rice with sweet soy sauce. Guests can enjoy meals seeing cats through transparent windows next to the cat room. One cat stared at me licking her lips. Sorry kitty, this cuisine is too salty for cats! I am a solo traveler, so sometimes have difficulty making a reservation at a resort, because some hotels accommodate only groups. This Aratama ryokan welcomes both solos and groups. Here I really had a good time as if spending time with a family.
