Lovely hotel at good location, around 10 mins walk to the town centre. I love the swimming pool, sauna & steam room, excellent facilities. And the food there was good too!

The hotel was a disappointment and was not good value for the £150 we paid for B&B. Our room was OK but the en suite had an automatic light and fan which could not be turned off (no switch), so going to the loo in the night meant a roaring fan and a light on for about 20 minutes. The showere was not 'stand alone' but in the bath. Our room was hot, so we needed to open the window but we were near the kitchen extractor fan, which also roared durimngt the day and periodically through the night. The room was also near the stairs and loos, so we heard lots of door banging and loud laughter late at night. And, maybe worse of all, the complementary toiletries provided were clearly ones that had been refilled many times, presumably with cheap substitutes. The labels were torn and the lids filthy from many hands having used them.

Stayed for a weekend family trip.,Staff pleasant and friendly, main hotel area clean and tidy. Outside area in need of attention, areas unkempt and weedy. Lodge rooms good size and fairly well equipped. Again outside area in serious need of attention. Doors dirty and outside of lodges need a coat of paint. Inside bath was chipped, rust and dirt on taps and shower head and floor not clean. Housekeeping not the best, towels not changed, bed not main and milk not replaced.,Breakfast menu limited , especially continental choices. Even though the hotel has a spa I do feel it is overpriced for what it offers and would not especially recommend it

VERY disappointed. We have stayed here several times before and have always enjoyed our stay. This time, having booked a ‘superior’ lodge, we expected something special. The room was large enough, but very basic. Needs a complete refurb. You could smell damp. Bathroom was tired and needed taking out. The mirror was rusty around the edges and everything was just not up to scratch. Cheap loo roll, thin towels. No water provided. No fresh milk or fridge. Bed was ok, but again smelly. Hotel restaurant wasn’t open. Only Friday and Saturday. Breakfast today, stale croissants, no fruit or juice. Not the standard u would expect for 4 nights at over £800.00. Appreciate that it is a tourist area, but no need for substandard. Needs a heavy injection of cash, an interior designer and some sorting out in the kitchen. Sadly, we won’t be returning and couldn’t recommend staying there based on our visit.

We had booked one of the superior lodges on the weekend offer tariff directly with the hotel. We stayed in lodge number 58 which was great, two very comfortable single beds, a large comfy sofa with a modern coffee table in front, a large tv on the wall, a small chest of drawers at the end of the bed and a console table in the entrance that housed the coffee making facilities and phone. The room was so much larger than we expected. The bathroom was small but perfectly adequate for our needs. There were extra pillows and bedding in one cupboard. The lodge was clean and well maintained. Outside we had a small decked patio with a table and two chairs and a little garden to the side. Beyone that is a lawned area with bushes and a few trees surrounding it. We had arrived early and initially offered a different lodge but we didn’t like that it had more shade that would be great in summer when it's too hot to sit in the sun. The reception staff were really good at changing lodges and offered the lodge above that we stayed in. All the staff are the best but the staff manning breakfast on monday morning were exceptional despite being very busy. All tables were cleared quickly, orders taken and food brought out to us in no time at all. This is a hotel that provides plenty of food for breakfast. The hotel has lost one star because the carvery was not so great. All the veg was not very warm and yorkshire pudding had been cooked to death then kept warm so by the time you had it on your plate it was like a crisp. The red cabbage was delicious despite being cool. Photos taken as we were leaving.

Hotel and arrival: On arrival we had no trouble parking and our room in the hotel complex was ready early so that was a bonus, we booked in with very friendly front of house team who answered any questions and booked us in for evening meal and breakfast the following morning, breakfast was £12.50 pp which for this heavy tourist area we thought fair, we were also given our passes to the spa area that reduced the entry cost to half price so £7.50 pp. The room whilst small had everything required for a short stay anything longer and I would suggest a lodge out the back but you pay a premium for these. The Spa Area: This for us was the let down to the stay, its a very small area tiny pool and a steam room that only fits 4 people and the main changing rooms were open plan with only 1 shower each for men and womens sides, on our visit it was full of unsupervised kids who were using the pool, steam room/sauna as a play area and as such rendered it unusable for a relaxing after hike/walk experience, couldn’t even use the steam/sauna on this visit due to this. I highly recommend greater supervision or a lifeguard in this area to control what is a potential accident waiting to happen with kids trapping other kids in the steam room for a joke etc. Food/Bar: Reasonably priced for the area, the food quality was really good and locally resourced and well cooked. In Summary: Lovely small hotel that is slightly let down by the Spa area hence 4 stars.
