The Riverwood Forest Retreat - Kanha

This is a hotel sold at a premium rate to travelers by showing good pictures but reality is very different. VERY DIFFERENT. You can judge by the reasons below. We booked 7 rooms for 2 nights. * Room 1: Party of insects in the bathroom, a lizard climbed up my body while doing the number 2 on day 1. Found the lizard in the same place on day 2 * Room 2: Bedcover had glowing insects within. Switch of the lights and they all came alive like a laser show. *Room 3: Lizard climed up while doing the number 2. Many insects in the bathroom *Room 4: Glowing insects on floor, lizard in bathroom. There is barely any landscaping on the property. It's raw and looks like a government jungle resort. Forgot to hire a Gardner. Now the best part. Staff has less regard for the guest than a youth hostel owner. They smile and say yes to everything but do little to please you. We wanted to sit in the bar area as so many of us, but it has two tiny A/Cs that don't cool the place. We informed them well in advance of our plans but no prep was done to make us feel good or cool the place. Food in day 1 was good but day 2 was 180 flip. Almost like the same person didn't even cook it. All starters taste good but are drowned in oil. The kofta had double salt, chicken had no taste and they had made nothing else. At 1030 pm the chef had left so we were forced to eat crap. Massive confusion in the kitchen always. Most of my judgement comes because of the price I'm paying. If they can admit to be a 3 star property with reasonable 3 star rates, I would not complain. This is a sham. Don't get fooled by the rate, there is nothing premium about this place.

My expectations for a great stay were raised when I had my first sight at the lake from the deck. Boy, was I surprised to have such an amazing experience and a lovely stay. Everyone at the hotel, including the boys in cleaning, the people working at the front desk, the car drivers, and Manager Vaibhav, took extra good care of my family. The feeling of being in the middle of the woods while taking a walk around the property and having a special dinner under a banyan tree are two of the moments that will remain ingrained in my memory for a very long time. The rooms were exceptionally large, and four people could sleep comfortably in each one. However, there was an additional charge for the additional two visitors and beds in the room. The bathroom design was fantastic, and I admired how much space it provided. The only item that may be considered a drawback was the absence of a body wash in the open-air shower area. Many thanks to the hardworking personnel as well as the proprietors for creating such a charming and cosy location. My appreciation goes out to everyone who had a hand in creating this charming quaint little place

Amazing experience..rooms were just awesome,service ,staff,food everything was excellent,well maintained,definitely a must visit property..5 star service n property..we were hear for 3 nights,weather was also good which enhanced our stay.

One of the most beautiful property in kanha must visit it you are looking to spend good time they have library kids activities a lake just behind the property and above all the hospitality and food is just perfect. Mr Vaibhav & Mr Kamal made all the efforts to make our stay comfortable. They probably have the best butterfly trail

We were looking for a property with our jungle safari experience and boy did we come across the best place! The view of the lake as you enter the property is excellent 😍 and set the tone for the trip. Food is so yumm…at one point I forgot I had to even go for safaris. The pool is perfect and the sunset from there is breathtaking. Don’t miss it! The staff is very attentive and everything is taken care of. Must visit!

Went with a group of couple friends with kids and had an amazing time!! It’s one of the newest properties there and u can feel it. The room design and setup is very nouveau. But one can’t appreciate a property for its construction and design only if the service isn’t upto it. And we were happy to find the staff right from front desk to chef to room service is very courteous and friendly. They know how to go the extra mile to please a guest. Vaibhav the hotel manager is very capable and runs a tight ship yet is always approachable and receptive to feedback. The safaris were impeccably managed and booked well in advance so we hardly had any concern. Every aspect of the trip was very well planned and executed by the team. It’s sad I can’t upload videos here to show u how amazing the place is as a lot of it was captured in my video cam

Luxury in the lap of nature. We had the most excellent and memorable stay at the property. Amazing hospitality was provided, the staff is so soft spoken and humble. They have a huge property with multiple amenities and the deck near the dining is the star of the property. We enjoyed every minute of our stay. There was no such element to complaint about.

The resort is full of birds voice …no shor… service and food was 10 on 10… location is super best… will visit again with my family…. Room was very big ..bathroom is just love… vaibhav n team u guys rock

Dont even waste time reading the review, just go for it, guranteed worth ur every penny on the lap of mother nature….rooms spacious luxurious, views heavenly, amenities jus what you need, best staffs i came across very courteous and attentive, Mr Vaibhav the manager is a gem of a person to have in the property will guide you and help you in whatever needed… Would like tk congragulate the owner for such an amazing property Visiting soon with family
