Activities & Experiences: A wide range of outdoor activities are available, including horseback riding, archery, high-ropes courses, fly fishing, guided Yellowstone tours, and rodeos. These activities are well-organized, professionally guided, and suitable for all ages.

We spent three nights at Lone Mountain Ranch to celebrate a friend’s birthday. Overall, our stay was enjoyable, but there were definitely some hiccups that fell short of the expectations you’d have for a luxury resort. At this price point, you’d hope that every aspect of service would be consistently five stars. Unfortunately, that was not the case. The Horn and Cantle restaurant was truly exceptional. The food was outstanding, and the service from both the servers and bartenders was top-notch—easily the best part of our experience. We also loved the variety of activities offered, from horseback riding to archery to the high ropes course. Our group especially appreciated the wranglers and activity leaders, who were personable, knowledgeable, and made the experiences memorable. The biggest disappointment was the service at the Outpost—the hub for check-in, reservations, transportation, and purchases. Upon arrival, we walked into the front desk area and were not acknowledged at all. Check-in was disorganized, and after repeated requests, we were finally given our keys, but not without encountering rudeness from the staff. To make matters worse, our luggage was delivered to the wrong cabin and swapped with another couple. Communication from the transportation director was equally frustrating. We received urgent, late-night texts before our arrival (including one at 9:30 PM), which felt inappropriate and unnecessary. Throughout our stay, interactions at the Outpost lacked care and professionalism. Many staff members seemed young, inexperienced, and untrained for the caliber of service expected at a resort of this level. We also shopped at the Lone Mountain store, which advertises a cowboy hat bar. However, none of the staff were equipped or willing to assist with shaping or designing hats. One employee even mentioned she had a late night and didn’t have her supplies, which reinforced the sense of immaturity and lack of professionalism. For the price we paid (over $14,000), we expected consistent, five-star service across the board. While the activities and restaurant exceeded expectations, the Outpost staff fell far below them, dampening what could have been a flawless experience. I’d strongly recommend that management reevaluate hiring and training practices for the front desk and retail operations. The ranch has so much potential, but unless this critical area improves, guests will continue to feel that their investment doesn’t match the service delivered.

Fantastic location, great food at the Horn & Cantle and exceptional service, especially Hogan (Amazing Yellowstone tour guide), front-desk Max (fantastic welcome) and Cole (excellent high-ropes activity guide). Would definitely recommend.
