Post Ranch Inn - Disappointing Experience On November 13th and 14th, my wife and I stayed at the Post Ranch Inn as part of an anniversary trip. Unfortunately, our experience fell far short of the expectations one would have for a hotel of this category and price. Upon arrival, we found that the assigned room did not have an ocean view, something we had specifically requested. When we asked for a change, the front desk staff offered us another room with an ocean view for an additional $750. Reluctantly, and given the circumstances, we agreed. However, the new room, while it did have an ocean view, was surprisingly basic considering the price we were paying. The next night, things took a turn for the worse. Shortly after midnight, a power outage caused the thermostat to turn on and off repeatedly, producing a disruptive noise that kept us awake all night. When I tried to call the front desk for assistance, I discovered the phone wasn’t working because the power outage had also affected it. To make matters worse, the power cut also disrupted the water supply, rendering the sink, shower, and toilet unusable. This created an extremely uncomfortable situation, as I had to use the bathroom during the night without being able to flush, which left the room and bathroom with an unpleasant odor. Unable to sleep or use our room, we decided to leave and head to the main restaurant. To our dismay, we were told there would be no breakfast service, only coffee and bread. Furthermore, other hotel facilities, such as the spa and gym, were also out of service due to the power outage. Frustrated, we opted to check out early. This process was chaotic, as the lack of power made it even more complicated. We understand that power outages and other incidents may be beyond the hotel’s control. However, for a hotel charging $2,000 per night, we expected them to have backup generators or contingency plans to handle such situations. In summary, we couldn’t sleep, we couldn’t use the hotel’s facilities, we couldn’t have breakfast, and we ended up in a room we didn’t initially want. When we requested compensation through our travel agent, the hotel’s response was simply that these were “uncontrollable circumstances.” For all these reasons, I do not recommend staying at the Post Ranch Inn. There are much better options in the area with better service and more reasonable prices, such as the hotel located just across the street. In my opinion, the services and facilities at the Post Ranch Inn do not justify their exorbitant prices.
