Hotel Riant-Séjour by WP Hotels

Hotel Moby Dick by WP Hotels

The hotel is a comfortable 10 min walk from the station. Blankenberge is a typically clean Belgian town and this is reflected in the hotel. The sea front is 150 meters away. There is a husband and wife management team who made us welcome, the whole atmosphere for me was very relaxed. We were clearly a group of men on a boozy weekend but while our hosts clearly understood this they never betrayed any concerns. As most hotels in the area this is a brasserie, so restaurant food and a bar are also available. I did have an evening meal at the Hotel (a fish dish in the Ostend style - 3 pieces of different fish in a cheese sauce with a few hints of mushroom) which I felt was good (it is a bit difficult to judge based on one meal). We had beers and coffees and I had a Calvados. There was a good selection of beers, wines and spirits. We had a whip (we had all put 40 euros into a central pot) so how pricy the drinks were was a bit difficult to judge but we were all very happy. The only negatives I would suggest was the staircase which is steep with some narrow steps in places. There is a lift which has a strict weight limit , no more than 4 occupants. All round I was very happy with the Moby Dick and would not hesitate to go back. If I do return I would like to have a longer stay investigating some various restaurants including at the hotel.
Ibis Budget Blankenberge

Immaculately presented fairly new hotel right beside the railway station, but without any disturbance from the trains. I'd a front facing room overlooking the church and the noise insulation was faultless. The weather was very cold but the room was easily kept very warm. Enough room for a solo guest and sufficient storage - only negative was none of the coat hangers had a bar on them to hang trousers over. At quiet times the reception desk is unstaffed and you need to check-in at the adjoining Mercure - breakfast is also served there on quiet days. The buffet selection at both hotels is to very good standard. A very secure hotel as you need a 6 digit PIN to access the main door, lift and bedroom. The price however wasn't ”Budget”, but was in line with an expensive cost of living compared to the UK where I live. I'd be delighted to stay here again.

I am really surprised by the negative comments on this hotel because we spent a great family trip with our dog (which was very well welcomed with a €15/day surcharge). Positive points: very well located just next to the dam and shops, adorable and completely bilingual staff, renovated room and just spacious for us 4, comfortable bedroom, office, camping spaces, connected TV, lift, The Aazaert Hotel is located just apart, with the open pool up to 23:00, the breakfast offered at the Aazaert or Saint-Sauveur hotel (which are partner hotels) is certainly very expensive (€18/person) but very excellent (sweet/salt buffet and really very varied). The small negative notes: the hotel's offered parking price (30€/day), but to note that you will not find a really cheaper parking nearby, the whole centre is limited to 2 hours and private parking costs 27€/24h in the weekend! We parked our car outside the center and market ... Also, the absence of takes next to bed was a bit binding. Attention, there is a lift, but you still need to go a few steps (sometimes without ramps) which can be complicated for people with reduced mobility. I see several comments complaining about the sound of the rooms ... I really don't care about notifying. So I recommend this hotel and I will not hesitate to go back there if I return to Blanckenberge.
