It was not a good first impression when we arrived in the pouring rain, and the receptionist couldn't find our booking and didn't seem overly bothered about it. I had to show her confirmation on my phone for her to then look a bit harder, finally finding it but no explanation or apology. We then had to sign numerous forms, goodness knows what for, and hope they are not signed to be charged for anything ! But after the initial bad start, the rest was all good. Our Twin Room was lovely, nice and spacious and even had a mini fridge, hob and sink - like a mini kitchenette. Desk, wardrobe, loads of power sockets, and a safe as well. No ac, so the room got quite stuffy so had to keep the windows open. The shower was the best we've had in 3 weeks in Colombia, super pressure, boiling hot, and lots of room - amazing ! Very good value, and the breakfast was really good - cereal, coffee/hot chocolate, fresh juices, eggs to order, pancakes, fresh bread, cheese, ham, salad, toast etc. Very small area though with only a few tables, so it soon felt very cramped. Lovely rooftop garden, but unfortunately it rained both evenings we were there so we didn't use it. Originally built in 1921, and some of it does show its age - the lift looks like the original, really tiny, and jerks alarmingly when it first moves ! The morning receptionist spoke very good english and was really friendly and helpful, and booked us a taxi to the airport for 36,000 pesos. Very good location in La Candelaria area, so nice and easy to walk to main sights from there, and just around the corner from Museo de Oro.

It's a comfortable hotel near the La Candelaria area, it has great beds and excellent staff members who are very helpful. It's a basic hotel, so don't expect a 5 star service. My only problem was the floor which made a lot of noise due to the old parket/wood floor. Extra tip: if you are too sensitive to street noise, inform the front desk and they will offer you a bedroom not facing the street. As for me noise is not s problem I had wonderful Montserrat view during Christmas and a nice balcony facing streets.

This hotel is a 5 minute walk from the Gold Museum, and an easy walk to the rest of La Candelaria district. The reception staff are friendly. There is a nice cafe attached to the hotel, but it is apparently closed on Sundays. The room was clean, and the bed was comfortable. Bogotá is called ”the fridge” by Colombians, with good reason. It is cold! My hotel room was quite cold, and there was no way to heat the space. The bathroom was especially cold, and there was no hot water in the shower. Even when I turned the water heater to ”Maximum” and I turned the shower knob as far to the left as it would go (as I was instructed) the water was only lukewarm at best. So that made for a very unpleasant shower experience. The tiny elevator right next to my room was incredibly loud, and it shook the building when in use. I was woken up several times by the noise when guests returned late at night. WiFi signal was spotty and weak. My stay at this hotel was rather uncomfortable and disappointing.

This hotel is very well located but honestly that is where the good things stop. Communication by email and phone is a nightmare. Direct communication with the general manager fails and never gets a response. A rate reduction from twin to single only happens after more than six emails and a dozen phone calls (on four of which the line was hung up on me). In the end I had to get the manager of my hotel in Cartagena to speak with their staff and he said he has never seen such poor service. I am now in Room 711 where I am told there is no Aircon because Bogota does not need it, there is no access to CNN in English because there is a problem in the neighbourhood and I cannot dial a toll free 1 877 number in the US because the hotel does not allow this service. Oh and the airport pickup we booked never arrived because they thought the flight was in the evening not the morning even though I sent the flight number. To be fair we were offered complimentary breakfast as compensation for this error. My current feeling is that staying here is exhausting.
