Hotels near Playground quai des Chartrons de 2 for child 2 to 10, Bordeaux

Admittedly, this is a bit of a concept, so it’s not for everyone. The rooms are tiny and minimalist, with nice-quality furnishings (Hansgrohe shower heads), but not many of them (no wardrobe or somesuch), combined with the – somewhat au courant and very cheap – coarse chipboard and industrial details. So if you’re hankering for cushy-cushy premium 5star luxury, move on. But the upsides reach from very low prices, to a very small footprint in CO2 (and other resource-use) terms, to a very pleasant international contemporary interpretation of common areas (yes, we have foosball), to an unexcitedly cool clientele. In a way, it reminded me of the early high-concept Club Med, with extremely modest rooms (often tents) and a focus on the communal experience, at times a bit essentialist. For us, less was more.

It is 2.8 kilometers away from the airport, a 35-minute walk. The light rain in the morning was very light, and we successfully arrived at Bordeaux Airport and Madrid, Spain, in about an hour.

What I liked was the comfortable bed, curtains, private bathroom and toilet, clean. Hairdryer is only in the shared shower on the floor. Of the minuses - there is no kitchen, there is only a bar on the ground floor. In the work area, the music is playing loudly. Only beer from the bar is allowed into the common area, not from the store. It's a long walk to the center, but there is a tram nearby. The luggage drawers are small; my bag (airplane size carry-on luggage) did not fit. The bed is wide and comfortable, with sockets and a lamp.

Location was closed the flixbus station by walk and receptionist was amazingly friendly. Room condition was even beyond my expection and good enough to stay alone with a nice and huge window view from my window or I'm the lucky one to stay in a beautiful corner room. Thanks for having this good memory for my first time to visit in Bordeaux.

The room was very nice and the size was right. Next to the train station. But if you sleep lightly downstairs, the train station will pass the train. The window soundproofing is good. The rooftop swimming pool, but the pool is very small and there is a problem that is not allowed to be in the pool after six o'clock. That's a little weird.

Super welcome by Lisa who was in the small care with my son and me. The hotel is very friendly and has prepared a super tapas chair despite our arrival. The room is very comfortable and comfortable. Perhaps it was because we came in winter, but this hotel did not live up to previous reviews. It was very much a mixed bag across the board. I've rounded down the stars as I'd give this 2.5 if I could, as it's definitely not a 3 star place currently. The Good - Comfy bed, nice linen - Comfort in the room in general - Cleanliness - Eco friendly large bottles of good quality soap shampoo etc - Location for leaving the city for day trips The average - General location - this will be off-putting for some people as it's in housing estates (and not affluent ones), it's about a 16min walk to the tram station, and very narrow roads driving in making it hard to get to (cars parked all along the sides) - Road noise - constant but only an issue if you open the window which we needed to as the room was very warm and air con wasn't cold, tho not surprising as it's winter (I expect it wasn't turned on) - Parking - in a caged/ gated section, wouldn't like to be here at a peak time as it was almost full the two nights we stayed The bad - Breakfast - very disappointing, not much choice at all, no effort put into it, no hot foods. Photos online definitely don't represent what's on offer at least at this time. - In room TV - while a nice TV, no movie channel and no way to connect an external device or log into any of your own services - WiFi - did not work the entire time we were there (this was not the individual hotel's fault but that of IHG and really for such a huge chain inexcusable) - Staff morale - while everyone was friendly, no one did more than was expected to the point that when asking about finding a particular regional dish in the city, we were told ”I have no idea, just ring some of the restaurants” Bordeaux is a lovely city, as is the region as a whole. I can't recommend this hotel unless you need to be in that area particularly or are only passing through for a night. I've stayed in Holiday Inns before and while cosmetically this is one of the newest/ nicest, it left a bitter taste in the mouth. We've been staying in lots of hotels in France so far, and this has been the worst experience, for example the following night at a very old and cheap chain hotel in Biarritz next to the airport, we had an incredible breakfast, zero noise with the window open, and wonderful and helpful service (despite France losing the final).

We were travelling from the UK to Portugal with our two dogs and this hotel was great for an overnight stop. We stayed here twice; once on the way and again on the way back. For the return journey, we were allocated a ground floor room overlooking the back of the hotel, which was just perfect for us. The hotel was very easy to find, had secure free parking and a small grass area for our dogs to exercise. The room was clean, the beds were comfortable and the bathroom had a great shower. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. There was a drinks machine and vending machine in the reception area along with a microwave that you could use. The only downside was that there were no tea and coffee making facilities in the room; not a problem for us as we had brought our own kettle, mugs, tea bags and milk. We were very pleased we chose this hotel and will definitely stay again.

Excellent hotel. Everything new. Comfortable bed and mattress. Nice decoration. Bathroom was five stars. Free parking and secure. Staff very friendly and helpful. Didn't have breakfast so I can't tell if it's good. The best hotel I've stayed near the motorway and at a good price
