I've stayed at this place several times a year for probably 20 years. It is an old Days Inn and I mean ”old.” The hotel is ok but old and you get the feeling like it's really dirty behind the scenes. I'm pretty sure the room carpet has never been shampooed in the last 20 or so years. Everything is done on the cheap. The ice machine doesn't work, the hot tub is ALWAYS broken, the TV's are small and the AC is hit or miss. I've stayed there with a portable AC unit in my room a number of times. Breakfast is a bust, but weirdly the coffee is pretty good in the lobby. We continued to stay here because it is cheap and on the way home, but because the hot tub is ALWAYS broke we gave up. That's pretty much why we stayed there all these years...cheap and a hot tub. You can stay a couple miles closer to Brainard at a better hotel for about $15 more.
