Tru by Hilton Bryan College Station

Booked this hotel while in town for a weekend basketball tournament. Overall highpoints listed with more details below. Saw ratings were lower upon booking, but just assumed that was because few reviews/newer hotel. This was too "value" for our family's taste - you pay for what you get. Fine if on a tight budget. This was a very popular hotel for families of teens playing sports. It wasn't the worst but won't stay here again. Pro's: -close proximity to food/entertainment/sports venue -clean -free brkst -comfy beds -good water pressure & temp in shower Con's: -understaffed employees -room temperature: either too hot or too cold. Made for restless nights. -electrical issues in bathroom -hot food in brkfst not good (we are not picky ppl, either) -laundry service lacking Top two issues: understaffed employees and electrical issues in bathroom. The front desk employee is also maintenance and housekeeping employee. Had to wait at least 10 min for someone to appear at front desk anytime you needed something and didn't answer calls from room. When using the hair dryer, lights went out in the bathroom. Took 40 min and two trips down to front desk to finally get resolved after 10pm. Front desk made it sound like it was a recurring problem because they instantly knew how to fix (flip breaker). Did not have any extra towels when we asked for more.

This place is immaculately clean! I thought it was brand-new. It is so well-kept inside and out. Plenty of free parking. Breakfast is fairly basic but is replenished very quickly. Good selection. Comfy bed. No carpet in the room. Pillows just a tad soft for my liking, but I still got a great sleep. Good location. Walgreens across the street and IHop on the corner. I would definitely choose it again next time I'm in town.

I was really impressed with this hotel which we had chosen as a cheap stop off on the way to Waco. It’s recorded as two star but I definitely believe it’s higher than that. For Brits, it’s akin to a Premier Inn, but with a breakfast included. The rooms were large, clean and comfortable with some clever use of desks and space. I really liked the large shower. Only a couple of minor negatives. The lady on reception when checking in was not welcoming at all and barely said two words to us. Hopefully she was just having a bad day and it was a one-off. Secondly, the coffee and hot water in reception was tepid so could do with being refreshed more often. Overall I was really impressed though and wouldn’t hesitate to book a Tru hotel again.

Hallway areas are dirty and need a vacuuming. The garbage by the elevator was overflowing and never emptied overnight. The bathroom in the room had no fan. Also had a low toilet that you fall into. Soaps were refillable squeeze bottle types. The breakfast buffet had a pancake machine with plenty of toppings, oatmeal, yogurt, cereal, breads and eggs with sausage. A nice free spread. Only fruit were three apples. Room did not have drapes and the blinds let in light from the sides so don’t expect blackout conditions if you want to sleep in. Bed is comfortable, pillows lack any support whatsoever. Small changes would make this so much better.

It was clean and the staff was helpful. The breakfast offerings were good. It had an automatic pancake maker, which was new to us. There was quite a bit of road noise in our room that faced the freeway, but we were able to turn the fan on and that helped. I think a few more detail cleaning items in the room would be good, like the green at the bottom of the shower door.

Incredibly clean hotel, rooms are way larger than depicted for example, you could have a twin blow up mattress for a child 3rd kid if needed. Fun atmosphere for teams etc. to hang out and relax and the breakfast was nice. The usual continental but they have a pancake machine that is pretty neat!

When we first arrived, I was impressed with the lobby, but it all changed. The double bed we booked was turned into a King. Which will not work with 3 people. They magically found a double bed when the clerk made us sign up for a “good” review. TV would not work properly. The rooms are very small and mimic a European room. The bed was hard. Found a long black hair wrapped around a breakfast sausage and the yogurt we chose was expired.

Pets running around without leashes, dirty hallways, loud noise all nite. People hanging out in lobby till 4am when I spoke with the front desk staff I was told “I know” I’ve stayed here before because of tge location & because the hotel was new, this was terrible.

The rooms were great and the beds comfortable. The morning breakfast was very good. The only issue was a place in the lobby that had water on the floor. It was there the afternoon we checked in and still there the morning we checked out. I would definitely stay here again on my next visit to College Station.
