Visited this hotel last week and..... Yes the scenery is beautiful and very grand driveway to Hotel I had already contacted hotel and asked if we could have a 1st floor room due to recent knee operations ,we were told room 18 I asked if this was top floor, yes so did explain about my phone call, very prompt she came back to say 15 was available, great then she said " oh can't book the restaurant for our evening meal as it was fully booked " Room was OK , bit tired looking ,no welcome shortbread or sherry. Breakfast well .... no one to show you to your seat,no explanation about where anything was.Go into room and coffee was in an urn, cereal and continental breakfast on a round table in middle, cooked items in silver hot plates toaster to the side so what's the problem? NO ROOM ,very difficult to turn around without bumping into someone, may I suggest move that massive globe into another room and utilise the space better The grounds were nice and nice to see the fresh vegetables. Did have the evening meal which was nice. I feel that this hotel is relying on the views for the WOW factor and really the guest experience comes second. It is such a beautiful hotel just needs to be loved by guests. To me it was a step back in time "Downton Abbey" and could be brilliant.
