Room was fresh and clean while still maintaining its period character. Bed was comfortable and room had everything you'd expect. The staff were friendly and accommodating throughout and couldn't fault them. The reduction to 4 star came from breakfast. The servings were smaller than you would expect from a full english. We ordered poached egg and it was very vinegary. This passed on the the rest of the food making the whole plate distinctly acidic. Overall, we would definitely stay here again if we found ourselves in the area.

Stayed in room no5 which is the suite, very nice room, four poster bed, nice comfy sofa and tv, Very large bed, very comfy, lovely bathroom with bath and seperate shower, great shower, Very clean and spacious, Couldnt fault the room, Only downside in my opinion was the breakfast, Very small with low quality bread, Beans were cold and egg overcooked, Would have expected some nice fresh bread for the cost per night, Just thought breakfast would have been better quality ingredients, Would stay again if in the area

Had to come of the motorway on trip to Cornwall due to traffic and arrived at the old vicarage. The towns not great but this was a sanctuary, beautiful garden, great rooms and the food was excellent with service to match. Well done team you are all amazing!

It’s not conventional I’ll say that.. you may find yourself wandering round the maze of odd / slightly creepy or eccentric rooms trying to find someone who works or owns it! This is not uncommon and adds to its charm.. The fella we dealt with (when we found him) was extremely helpful, upgraded my room.. found me better parking and helped on our breakfast requests.. the room was charming enough, comfy and clean bed, adequate amenities. Breakfast was ok .and in all fairness the lady cooking breakfast was great, really friendly and helpful It wasn’t expensive for two nights and I’d definitely return

The vicarage is a lovely old building and the room we had was room 5 which was beautiful, you are made so welcome here you really are. Breakfast and meal at night were excellent and the garden at the back was beautiful, they do weddings which is ideal with the marquee and the beautiful garden. Can't thank you enough for a great stay at your hotel. Iain and Cath.

We had a lovely relaxing stay at The Old Vicarage for a couple of days. The welcome was warm and the staff were friendly and helpful throughout. Comfy, cool rooms with new carpets, everything worked like a dream, beautiful garden and the restaurant was excellent too.

We picked the Old Vicarage because of its central position in the historic part of Bridgwater, and because we prefer to avoid characterless chain hotels. We were not disappointed; our room was comfortable and quiet, tastefully decorated and perfectly clean and tidy. Being in the centre of town, it would be easy to go out for meals, but in the event the food at the Old Vicarage was good enough that we never felt the need. One thing to highlight was the very friendly and helpful staff - excellent! Niggles? Not really. It would have been good to have chairs in the bedroom - but it didn't really bother us. The car park entrance is just a little narrow, but no problem and the road outside is not that busy.
