My wife and I stayed two nights at Hotel Restaurant Steinbock. (It was to be three nights, but the IT meltdown stole a day and a half of our vacation time in Switzerland.) The staff were warm, welcoming, and exceptionally helpful. They made our stay delightful. Our spacious room had windows and a terrace that looked out over teal-blue Lake Brienz. The room was well furnished and spotlessly clean. Breakfast was a feast. The restaurant, staffed with friendly, hustling professionals, served scrumptious food. If you want a lovely place to stay in beautiful Brienz, seriously consider Hotel Restaurant Steinbock. My wife and I will stay here when we return, no question! Do note that this business is a restaurant first, and a hotel second. The staff are fully occupied with their bustling restaurant for most of the day. No one hangs around the hotel desklet to answer calls, emails, or texts. They do receive those messages and they WILL respond. Just not immediately. My wife and I found this not to be a problem at all. But if you are the kind of person who needs immediate and continual attention 24/7, this may not be your best choice. Otherwise, book it right now!

Cozy accommodation in the beautiful Gasterntal. Rustic rooms, friendly hospitality, good food. We really enjoyed our stay as a family. There are play facilities around the house, but you can also spend time with children on the banks of the Kander. The only downside is that the house is very quiet - which is made clear to you upon arrival.

We were allowed to drop by at very short notice over lunchtime and were spoiled in every way possible. The kitchen is unbeatable! The service - just wonderful! I / we have not encountered anything so great during the whole holiday. Many thanks for the perfect hospitality!

Spacious rooms, warm welcome, fine food, friendly service. Value for money absolutely great and in the immediate vicinity of the lake and footpath or hiking trails. Wonderful relaxation from the first moment. Ballenberg Museum is just around the corner.
