Charming old property, beautifully restored. The hosts were very welcoming and the breakfasts amazing - great chance to chat with the other guests over Sue's fresh-baked goodies. Stayed in the bridal veil suite which was beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean with lovely views over the gardens and mountains. Great location - quiet and rural but close to Bristol and Middlebury.

I had been planning my vacation to New England for almost two years. I had originally intended to stay at an inn in Middlebury, but that inn cancelled on me just weeks before my trip. Thank goodness they did! DreamHouse Country Inn was the only place I could find in that general area that would let me book a Friday night in September. Staying with Steve and Sue was like staying with family. They were ready with maps and suggestions and even a discount certificate for Shelbourne Museum. Sue's lemon yogurt cake for breakfast reminded me of the pound cakes my aunt used to make. So delicious! Sue was kind enough to wrap some up for me as I left on the last morning and to even point me towards the recipe. It is a lovely house with a lovely setting. I was worried it might be too remote, but it was absolutely not. It was a perfect three nights in a lovely suite. I enjoyed every minute.

The owners Sue and Steve go above and beyond to ensure your stay is both comfortable and inviting. Sue’s homemade, robust breakfast is absolutely fabulous! It competes with any Michelin rated restaurant. The rooms are both contemporarily and traditionally decorated in the intimate setting. Only three rooms are available in this traditional bed and breakfast which makes it that much more homey. I loved waking up early, accessing the always-available keurig machine and sitting out in the porch on the rocking chair, listening to the bird song, watching bunnies run by as the sun peaked over the mountain in the distance. My daughter and I were there for both the Antique’s Roadshow and college tours, Sue and Steve were extremely accommodating by giving us recommendations in the area from blueberry picking to restaurants and allowing us to stay a little past check out so my daughter could participate in her morning online internship. If you’re tired of the typical, overpriced hotel chains and desire a sanctuary that is close to the Vermont countryside, quintessential towns and Lake Champlain, then this is the place for you!

My husband and I and another couple just spent 2 perfect nights at Dreamhouse Country Inn. Steve welcomed us just as we drove in, picked up 2 of our bags and we headed into the lovely, comfortable, clean home that was ours for the next 2 days. Sue greeted us soon after and gave us tour of the house and our rooms. Everything is spotless and the bed linens are all a very beautiful cotton. Our bathroom was lovely with a shower that offered ecological holders of shampoo, conditioner and liquid body soap. The towels are thick and absorbent. They have thought of everything anyone might need. The wifi is excellent as well. There is a living room for guests with very comfortable sofas and chairs and an area devoted to Keurig coffee/hot chocolate, Kind bars, and a fridge filled with water and soda and seltzer (and a pitcher of cream for my pre-dawn coffee), plus a bowl of chocolates in the living room. Breakfast was absolutely delicious- the most incredibly tender and not too sweet maple scones the first morning, which preceded a perfectly prepared omelette with cheddar cheese and spinach, which could be modified to your tastes. A yogurt and fresh strawberry parfait preceded the omelette. Fresh fruit was beautifully placed on the plate as well. The second breakfast was orange hinted French toast made with a baguette and local maple syrup with sweet fresh pineapple and strawberries. Blueberry crumb muffins were also offered and which Sue put into bags for us to take with us. Tea and coffee were available as well. Sue and Steve were present in the best of ways- offering info when asked, telling stories as we talked on the porch. (Even the porch furniture is extremely comfortable.) They never imposed themselves, but were always available. We rarely have extended conversations with B+B owners, but could have stayed and talked for hours with Sue and Steve. We are hoping to come back next year with a French friend of ours who is the queen of hospitality and she will feel quite at home! A million thanks to Sue and Steve. We went on early morning walks down their road and spent some time in Bristol going into some appealing art, book, and specialty shops. Bristol is 15 minutes from Middlebury and 15-20 minutes from Vergennes. We drove to Mt. Philo for a hike up the mountain (moderate) and spent our last day at the Shelburne Museum- beautiful property with historic buildings and art museums.

Had a wonderful stay at the Dreamhouse Inn with Sue and Steve. They were so helpful and welcoming when we arrived in the rain. Our room, was more like an apartment than a suite - lots of space and comfortable sitting. Fortunately there are no calories on vacation because snacks were always available and tasty. The breakfasts were lovely presentations of deliciousness and we enjoyed it all. The house is gorgeous and the fall decorations were appreciated. They have the porch set up for comfort too. It was very convenient for visiting Waitsfield if you plan on riding Icelandic horses. Sue and Steve are such hospitable hosts with a beautiful home to welcome you.
