This pub has a "local" culture. If you're a tourist (contributing to the thriving Cotswold economy) be on your guard here. We sat at table that was reserved, but only planned a quick drink. 16.05 we sat down, 16.45 the table was reserved for. A "local" person, I think female, but certainly don't want to assume her pronoun, loudly began telling her partner that we shouldn't be sitting at that table and should be sat somewhere else. Perplexed (and embarrassed) I wasn't quite sure what to do but rationalised in my head it was ok to sit at the table we selected. She then loudly stated "I JUST DONT GET THE GENERAL PUBLIC SOMETIMES". Wow. I then noticed "her", sorry "their" table had a little plaque saying "LOCALS TABLE". And then I understood the apparent discrimination. We sat in the wrong area of the pub. Our skin and being didn't fit because we were not local. We did not have the power and control that the locals had. We were 2nd rate citizens. It's 2024, #bekind. Do not visit this pub if you value humans, empathy and kindness, you simply won't find it.
