Db San Antonio Hotel + Spa All Inclusive

Very disappointed considering 4* status. Pros, the hotel reception was well kept and big. The cafe was a nice little bolt hold and very cool. The Asian and Italian restaurants are definitely worth a visit. Main dining room was repetitive but always something to eat (again). The staff worked so hard in there. Pool was rammed but always found a bed. Bedroom a bit of a weird set up. Staff cleaned daily and replaced towels when needed - always pleasant. Adult area was great,’wish we would have found it earlier. Cons, well apart from the water polo teams tuning havoc through the reception in bare feet into the cafe one night due to an incident to shoving and pushing in the dining rooms it was fun! They hogged the lifts and just general rude. The evening entertainment for adults was shocking. Luckily the football was on. The few times we did visit it all finished by 10:15 and the bar was slowly closing which forced you to leave. The guitar guy Richard was incredible who done a solo on a Tuesday night and well worth a watch! Air conditioning - if that’s what a fan on the ceiling is called was awful. We ended up with two fans and it was still too warm (ground floor). Locals literally ran the place at the weekend and all the stops were out for them including special snack room and doughnuts at meal time: It was near impossible to speak to anybody before our holiday and I emailed several times and never got a reply. They never acknowledged our special occasion either which was a little disheartening. Finally, although Malta is a lovely country the sounding area was very run down and I think there is better places to stay for the 4*. We won’t be returning. If the general manager has an email I would liked to make contact.

Myself, wife and son (6) have just returned from an enjoyable 7 night stay at DB San Antonio. After reading some review, we were a little worried. However, we were pleasantly surprised. Rooms were spacious and cleaned regularly. Rooms were a little warm at night even though the air con/ fans were “supposedly” on. The family room was perfect for 2 adults and 1 child. I want to particularly mention how friendly all the cleaning staff were. Anytime you walked past them in hallway they always greeted you with a smile. (My wife loved them all!) Food and restaurants were good (even for a slightly fussy 6 year old). However, booking system for bookable restaurants need reviewed. We made booking on final night and were turned away as the restaurant had no record of our online booking. (Even though there was plenty of free tables at the the restaurant) poor customer service. But otherwise, restaurant staff were amazing and super friendly. Bars and cafe all had a great selection of drinks and refreshments. We particularly enjoyed coffees at Cafe Maroc. Waiter and bar staff all worked tirelessly and dealt well with some “difficult customers”. I always made sure I thanked them for their hard work as they looked super busy at times. Pool areas and animation team. Kids pools were okay - but really need look at improving the spiral staircase to access kids pool. The main pools were great for my son as he is leaning to swim - not too deep. Animation team were nice - but seemed to be very engaged with the adults and older kids/teenagers in and around the pool areas during the day. My son (6) was a bit nervous about going to kids club (which he didn’t) and I felt the animation team could have made a greater effort with the younger kids 4-10 years olds to encourage them to participate in activities. At night the animation team again worked well with the older kids and adults - but delivered the same 5 kids disco songs at the mini disco. (One night the animation team didn’t turn up to kids disco and a parent ended up leading the 20+ with some dances - not very professional relying on a parent to lead the mini disco. Animation team were nice and approachable - I just feel there could have been a little more focus on the younger kids (4-10 years) Hotel location was ideal and close to most things you want from a family holiday. (Shops, pharmacies, restaurants, beach….). Overall - my family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the hotel and hopefully this review will ease any concerns anyone has. There is some minor areas for improvement. But in general this is a great hotel, with great staff and within a great location. I would recommend to any people with a young family.

Beautiful hotel with great location, food choice, rooms, staff, especially Sachin, who was very friendly and went far and beyond to help with everything. Well done and thank you to the staff. Would definitely recommend this hotel for the facilities within the hotel

The hotel is lovely, nice location as there are shops and bar right outside & not a long walk at all to the beach close by. The “square” as I call it isn’t a far walk either just straight down the promenade & it’s a lovely walk down. The roof top pool is a fantastic spot to sit & chill out by the pool and with a cocktail or 7! Also a fabulous spot to watch the sun go down! The food is great as well for an all inclusive, good selection. Also has amazing al a carte restaurants that we can use a couple of times during our stay! The main pool is great for little kids and people that want to get involved with the entertainment team, but my favorite spot will be the roof top pool, ( 16+ ). Rooms are lovely and spacious & are cleaned every day with new towels. Lifts a bit tricky as you can only go to your designated floor & can’t go to other floors if you have multiple people spread out & can only use the lift really when showing your card, unless you go to reception or the roof top pool.

If you are looking for a quiet, cultured getaway, this is not the place for you! However, if you are a family, I am sure it would be great. Unfortunately, we are a young couple and found both the hotel and resort too loud and brash. The hotel itself is clean and our room was comfortable. The quality and choice of food was excellent, it’s just a pity the ambiance it was served in was noisy with ‘happy birthday’ played through the speakers at top volume! The staff were friendly and helpful so although it wasn’t our cup of tea, this was not the hotel’s fault but our tour operator who we didn’t feel described the hotel and resort honestly. The air conditioning in the room was not great but we managed. We didn’t expect June to be as busy as it was and the pool areas were very crowded. We only sat there once as we felt crammed in like sardines with no space to move the lounger. Shade was also not widely available especially on the roof top. The problem was that if you wanted shade, you had to put another 20 people in it as you had to draw a shade across a structure rather than having an umberella. The infinity pool was nice at around 5pm as lots of people then left the pool area but throughout the day could be very busy. As a result we spent most days on our balcony where it was quieter but lacked sun. Luckily we had paid for a pool view room. However, I did feel a bit imprisoned. We went to the gym which was well equipped though the air conditioning could have been turned up a notch or ten! The entertainment was kid-centric and not to our liking but the entertainment staff did their best. The quietest place was the cafe but the hotel is opposite a sports bar so as our holiday was during the Euros, it was not so quiet when a match was on, The hotel caters very much for Brits as does the resort. The England matches were shown in the terrace but this did mean it was the difficult to escape and have a quiet drink. The resort itself was rather Benidorm like. British and Irish pubs, beach shops selling tat and bars with loud music. We could not find a traditional restaurant and all that was on offer was fast food. Overall, not a hotel suited to our tastes but good for families who like a very British experience abroad.

We really wanna appreciate bartender puskay he made our trip really easy and fun to be there also we wanna appreciate to reception, Dagmara she was so helpful. Thank you all for your work. Night time shows wasn’t good unfortunately we are kinda disappointed on them.

We stayed at The San Antonio between 11th - 21st June 2024. Standard Room 551 Staff - All the Staff of ALL Areas were so polite, friendly and very approachable. Room - The room was extremely clean to a very pleasing standard. And cleaned to the same standard throughout our stay. That we chose to only have the room cleaned every other day. My partner used to go to the cleaners to exchange towels on DND Days. Food - The Main Restaurant - Lovely Food, Lots of Choice Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. The Chinese Restaurant - So delicious, my favourite meal by far. The Indian Restaurant - Really lovely well proportioned food. The Moroccan Restaurant - Again really lovely Indian & Moroccan food buffet style. Italian Restaurant - The food was lovely, very well cooked. However, we were disappointed that the food didn't resemble anything Italian. The Goldbands seemed to have a different (bigger) menu card. So, theirs could be a different opinion. Bars - We were just Normal All Inclusive (so no Branded drinks) but the Lager, Prosecco, Gin, Wines & Mixers were all really lovely. Pools - The Roof Deck Pool was Adults Only. Which was brilliant. We stayed there once we found it. We did spend the 1st day around the family pool. Which was also very pleasant. I came to Malta to spread my Dad's Ashes who loved the Island. Now I will visit Malta every June for Father's Day. I will be returning to The San Antonio. As, they played the biggest part in helping the Holiday be Special for Me and My Partner Thank you all at San Antonio ❤️
