Northcote Manor

My wife and I and my elderly parents visited Northcote Manor on 01/07/2024 for an afternoon tea which we had pre-booked a couple of weeks before. When booking I said that we would have our well behaved cockerpoo dog with us which I was told was ok. However on arrival we were told we would have to sit in the reception area seating area and not the main lounge area. We should have been told this when I booked. No water was offered by the staff for our dog. The member of staff who greeted us was a pleasant young man. However the afternoon tea's were bought by a very grumpy and unfriendly older man whose poor attitude shocked us as he had no pleasantness about him at all. We then realised they had only made afternoon tea for three people not four. When I advised the older man he grumpily removed the food and placed it on the nearby bar top and off he went, with no comment made. The younger man then came back and said he would see if kitchen would make up some more food. He also said he had checked the booking and it did say three people. I know I booked for four at three PM so maybe some confusion with the time! We were left feeling like the guilty party. More food was brought through. The young man said we could have extra coffee's or money off. We said its not about having something free its about having an experience which we were not getting. The food was the high spot being excellent however the overall experience was poor especially because of the attitude of that one member of staff. If it was not for him we may have visited again but we will not. No manager came to see us and we paid full price and there was no member of staff around to say goodbye to as we left.

Celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary. From arriving to leaving the staff, food, accommodation and location was 5 stars. Nice touches from the hotel to help us celebrate highly recommended every must do a Northcote experience.Thank you Northcote!

Stayed here for my surprise 40th Birthday treat with my husband. The setting, grounds, spa and hotel were incredibly picturesque and well maintained. Whilst I didn't have any treatments the pool/sauna/steam room and seating areas were wonderful, clean and with an unrivalled view of the countryside. The dinner was exceptional - with service to match. The only reason I didn't give 5, and Im probably being a little picky, was that I think the interior and styling could do with updating. Everything was clean, tidy etc but it was chintz. We also had a hand held shower head over bath with no way to hang the shower up which was disappointing for a hotel that is otherwise exceptionally luxurious. Small upgrades including fresh flowers not plastic and a more modern (but sympathetic) decor would bring this to a 4star. I would certainly go back though and think it was very good value for 2AA rosette restaurant and spa.

Northcote Manor is an excellent place to stay. The rooms are clean, spacious and well equipped. The food is excellent. But what makes the place super special is the staff. From the lovely greeting on arrival, to every member of staff at breakfast and dinner, the staff are superb. Unusually, they want to actually engage with the guests and are friendly and happy and efficient. 100% recommended.

We came on a night stay and a 5 course gourmet meal, this was my Christmas present (we had to cancel once due to family illness) they were very kind and let us re-book,. The staff are just amazing they are only young but very professional, and hard working. The rooms are wonderful and well equipped, For dinner you are asked to be in the bar half an hour before dinner, I ordered the best vodka martini I have had in years, very bond! Shaken not stirred then the sommelier came to talk wine and take our order. Then we were shown to our table and the meal began. Amazing!! It was a very lovely treat

A delightful comfortable hotel in private picturesque situation. Very friendly efficient staff, beautiful decor extremely well kept and clean top to bottom extremely good value very high quality food with menu offering a special every evening so no need to always choose off the regular menu. Gourmet menu recommended, altered to suit my dairy intolerance,thoroughly recommend

This is a wonderful hotel set in delightful grounds well away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The service provided by the staff was, in every situation, outstanding and faultless. They all function as an amazing team and proved to be most helpful about elements of the hotel and aspects of the wider community. The food was excellent - cooked to perfection and presented with style. I have a problem with what I can eat and how best to eat certain things. Nothing was too much trouble to make certain that I was assured of 100% satisfaction. The accommodation and public areas were spotless and well cared for. We slept well in a large and comfortable bed. We met a couple who were there for the third time just because they love staying at Northcote Manor. That says a lot, with which we agree. It is a lovely place to just chill out and to enjoy all the bird song. We wish to thank everyone for a great service and to Mitchell for his wit and wisdom. We could not have wished for better.

Really not impressed. A lot went wrong. Took a very long time between courses which I know isn’t unusual but….. it was too long. Wrong dishes came out . There was a dish that came out tartar and where there was nothing in the description that described it as being raw meat. The deserts took 35 minutes to come out so we got offered a cheese course as an apology but then that took so long to come that we just got up and asked for the bill. It was poor.

Beautiful hotel set in lovely countryside surroundings. First class food and service. Lovely rooms and the staff cannot do enough for you. Special thanks to barman Mitchell and our young waiter Harry. Lovely Spa attached with amazing views. Highly recommend for a quiet break away.
