Had the most wonderful one nights stay here in mid November - this is our second visit to this lovely hotel. We travelled up to spend the Saturday at York Christmas markets and spent the late afternoon and evening at Burythorpe House - 30 minutes drive away, before going to the nearby Castle Howard after breakfast on the Sunday - 15 minutes away. The trip was for my mums 75th birthday and has become a bit of a tradition! We used to stay in York but found Burythorpe House last year and much prefer this ‘home from home’ with beautiful and peaceful surroundings, excellent service, friendly staff and fabulous food! At half the price of a central York hotel at this time of year! The rooms are very well appointed with everything you need and are spotlessly clean, both our evening meal and breakfast was delicious - and the views are stunning! We were lucky enough to be entertained by the ‘resident’ saxophonist who had been booked for both of our visits! Mum was made up that he was there again for this stay! After dinner we spent the evening in-front of a roaring fire with a few drinks. A huge thank you to and recognition of Alison, the hotel manger, who went out of her way to get to know us, had mum in fits of laughter with her tales and really added to our stay. She epitomises this hotel and the personal touch they deliver on, she made mum feels so special and even sent us a glass of champagne to celebrate mums birthday! We cannot wait to return - we thought about bringing dad and my husband but decided to keep this special place as our mum and daughter girlie treat! Fabulous place!
