Breakfast was wonderful, everything was delicious and felt top quality with locally sourced ingredients. The room was lovely and clean, spacious and quiet with stunning views. It was warm but not overhot, which is a pet hate for me. In the evenings, we especially loved playing board games by the fire in the drawing room while having a drink or two from the bar, I felt transported to simpler times. Upon exploring a little, I could see they had a lovely area outside for summer bbqs and a tennis court which we didn't use. The grounds were well kept and we saw a variety of wildlife including pheasants randomly walking around. The staff were sweet, attentive and so helpful throughout; nothing was too much. Dinner felt special and was delicious. The location is wonderful as we used it as a base to explore York, Malton, Goathland and Whitby that were not too far away. The fact the hotel is deep in the countryside with little light meant my space mad daughter was finally able to see the Milky Way, something she's never been able to see from London, which she absolutely loved! If I had to suggest anything to make it any better, then I would suggest a swimming pool that can be used all year round, just for the entertainment value it would provide (I know my daughter would have loved one!). But to be honest, after a whole day of exploring we were so tired, swimming was the last thing on our minds! Our stay was so wonderfully serene and just what we needed to recharge. We wouldn't think twice about coming back. Thank you so much x
