My family and I spent one night at the Doa hotel in Skopje, Macedonia on our way to Greece for vacation. Although this is our first time in Skopje, there were no problems with the navigation, which brought us exactly to the address of the hotel. The first impression upon arrival in the city center was good, as the hotel has several parking spaces that are enclosed by a chain, and are reserved only for hotel guests. The facade of the hotel towards the parking lot looks quite new and modern with nice and comfortable balconies. Unfortunately, the room we booked (for three people) did not have a balcony, not even a view of any kind, considering that the only window in the room looked at the wall of the neighboring building, which was maybe half a meter away. Quite unpleasant. Check in was quick and pleasant. The location is excellent because the hotel is located in the very center, in the part of the old town with many craft shops, stores and restaurants with traditional food. At least one smile wouldn't be out of place. The Room: The most important thing for me is the bed, and it was fantastic, I mean the mattress and the pillow. I didn't even unpack my pillow, which I normally carry with me. After the back surgery I had a little over a year ago, a firm and comfortable mattress is imperative for me, and I have to say that this one was perfect. The bathroom is new, has everything you need, and everything worked flawlessly. But, not to make everything perfect... here are a few things I didn't like: There were only two electrical outlets in the entire room. We couldn't charge three mobile phones, let alone the additional devices we brought. There is also no socket on the place of the small shelf where the water kettle stands. I don't know how they imagined the kettle to turn on? The TV had no signal, and as such not a single channel. Although we didn't come to watch TV for one night, the child still likes to watch a cartoon before going to sleep, and I like to at least watch the local news before going to bed. I tried everything possible to find the right signal, but there simply wasn't a single input that worked on the TV, and the guy at the reception wasn't the least bit helpful about it. Also, there is no garbage can in the room, only a very small one in the bathroom, so we put garbage in plastic bags. Very surprising. The buffet breakfast was very varied and tasty, with plenty of local dishes. I liked it very much. However, for espresso coffee, you have to contact the cook in the kitchen, since there is no machine in the buffet. All in all, it wasn't bad for one night, since we had a good rest before continuing the journey, despite all the minor complaints. My final conclusion is ... maybe a little under 4 stars as it is rated.
