The lighting in the whole building is very subtle. Nice and relaxing music and atmosphere. Only one hand and bath towel in the bathroom and, although there were more in the bottom of the bed, we were unaware of where to find these until we checked out. I was in the shower before I realised there wasn’t a second towel and it was too late to phone reception. Booking had 2 names for the room so we would have expected adequate towels in the bathroom or visible in the room rather than under the bed.

Wonderful clean and cozy hotel with very friendly staff. Excellent value for the money. This hotel is ideally suited for easily getting to Glasgow, Edinburgh Aberdeen and Noth of Scotland tours. An abundance of information brochures on hand for those who wish to take advantage of the historical sites around and afar in the country. The afternoon tea in delicious and a wonder way to spend an hour or so relaxing in the middle of the day.

Excellent service from walking through the door Mark on reception was pleasant efficient and very helpful at check inn ,my room as ready a little early and was still allowed to check inn , room was good with no issues nice and clean bed very comfortable, all the staff are very pleasant and welcoming, food and service i cannot fault , for me the location is ideal being close to the M74 , a good overall hotel staff location and rice rolled into one , i will be staying here again well done guys . The hotel was nice. We arrived on a Friday evening when there was a huge event taking place at the house. Check-in was quick and easy. Rooms were clean just a bit warm. Fortunately, we had a fan in the room. Beds were very comfy. Dinner at the restaurant was ok, nothing fancy but fine for the price. However, staff is in dire need of training. Not one single waitress/waiter was able to smile. They spoke very fast and slurred and we had to wave them to come back for further orders. When we ordered the bill, something went wrong with the card and they just walked away, mumbling something we could not understand. After 10 minutes they still did not get back to us so we had to catch them at the bar in order to clarify what happened. Turned out the card was declined and they did not make any efforts in letting us know. Which left us with a very strange feeling. Breakfast was the same, staff was not able to smile or at least look friendly. It all felt like it was a shame that they had to work. Not sure what the reason is for that as they treated all guests the same way. The next morning we were sitting in the breakfast area with the sun blinding us so we asked them to pull down the blinds but they told us they were just facade. Breakfast buffet was very poor: Kellogs cereal bags (the small ones) 3 bananas, 2 old apples and some grapes.

I had an amazing stay! Mrs. Whitelaw is so sweet and always ready to help! The room was super clean and very nice for the price. There was a very nice complimentary breakfast as well with fruits, yogurts, various cereals, and more. She also has the sweetest dog and was so happy to see her! Also, felt totally safe as a solo female traveler and was a quick 20-30 min taxi ride to the Edinburgh airport.

I wouldn't quite go as far as to say I complain about everything, however I am the perinnial 'grumpy old man' when it comes to hospitality in the UK as of late. Also, I am not the biggest fan of the lower cost hotel brands and it is rare I right this type of review (it may be the first). However I have spent two nights at the Holiday Inn Express in Hamilton and I have been overwhelmed. The customer service at EVERY level was exceptional, occasionally you get one good member of staff but from check in, to breakfast and the simple questions they go the extra mile. The reception staff met me with a big smile and a warm welcome, my room was clean and well serviced and the reception is roomy and pleasant. Breakfast was the standard Holiday Inn Express, but cooked well and well presented. But that doesn't quite cut it, I had a few small questions, simply where I could print a document, get a cup of tea and find a gift for my partner (I forgot her Easter egg). None of this was too much and everything was sorted quickly. I probably spend 200 nights a year in hotels and colleagues spend significantly more, I will be exclusively using IHG going forward and recommending we all do the same. Thank you to all of the staff there.

Free parking, room 4 star standard, a little far from the city, there is a supermarket 2 km away. . . . . . . very good. . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
