Epicurean and romantic are the best words to describe Langdon Hall. Romantic with its gracious interiors of warm tones- silky fabrics and wood paneling detail- its tranquil grounds and gardens- where one can sit under a century old Elm tree sipping fine wine or relax by the lily pond reflecting the elegant lines of the manor. And epicurean with its exceptional cuisine. In the kitchen- every detail counts for young chef Jonathan Gushue- who even makes his own butter- and as a result- each meal is an unforgettable moment. As a devotee of French cuisine- his favourite ingredients include truffles- foie gras- frogs legs- snails and artisanal cheeses all of which he turns into sophisticated compositions that match the elegance of the setting. For added relaxation- the spa offers the very best in body and beauty therapies. Just an hour and a half drive from Toronto and the Niagara area- this is the address for those who love beauty. The hotel will be closed annually for the first week of January. CLUB 5C- Hotel welcomes Relais and Chateaux Club 5C members with a VIP Welcome and a Discovery Privilege. We wanted a special night away for something different to do and see. My husband chose this location. Who knew there was something this nice in Cambridge? Gorgeous rooms. Property was expansive. We enjoyed the claw foot tub in our room with the wonderful bath bomb supplied. Service was beyond what I expected. Steam room was great too! Spent next day by the pool. Food and restaurant service was amazing. Highly recommend a night away here.

This past weekend my partner and I had the opportunity to enjoy the Grand Tasting Menu experience and it was everything we were hoping for. We have dined and enjoyed several types of tasting menu experiences over the years but this really stood out to us. The presentation of the dishes were so visually appealing but the type of plate ware as well was very unique to the dishes themselves; which added to the overall enjoyment. The flavors were elegant and fresh, portion sizes fair but not much. It was difficult to choose a favorite after it was completed which is always a great sign. Each course seemed to outshine the next with an excellent balance of flavors. The service element to this experience was a real treat and a stand out highlight. Tyler was our server; more of a culinary guide to be honest. His explanations with each course were more than simply that; he consistently found a way to tell a story connecting each dish to the property or Chef Jason himself. That is truly something we have never seen or experienced. That level of service requires more than training, a lot of servers can memorize and reproduce. Tyler demonstrated true passion, integrity and professionalism. He represented the experience at the highest level and was the perfect complement to the cuisine. Even with multiple guests to take care of, when he approached our table never once was the story rushed or his attention deflected. With experience within the industry that’s not easy; well done!!! We left dinner (more like a culinary show) feeling like royalty. Thank you Langdon Hall, Chef Jason, and Tyler for creating a lasting memory and experience that will never be forgotten.

We were guests at a recent wedding at Langdon Hall and were fortunate to snap up the last available room for the night. It was our first time at Langdon and we were pleasantly surprised. We had heard good things from others about the food. We arrived at Langdon a few hours ahead of the wedding and elected to sit outside the main building in one of the shaded outdoor seating areas. Listening to the falling water and splash of a water feature into a small man made pond with lovely background music wafting through the air we felt like we were at a country estate in Ireland or somewhere else in Europe, not 1 1/2 hours outside Toronto. With the wonderful atmosphere we enjoyed some drinks and snacks and just felt so relaxed, already planning another visit. The main building has all sorts of areas to lounge in as well as a room with a pool table, scrabble and other games. We had a lovely cloister room (room 24) with a small outdoor patio, a super plush queen bed, great air conditioning, tv, free wifi, a wood burning fire place, seating area, a soaking tub and separate shower. The linens were high end by Au Lit and a Dyson hair dryer. The grounds are beautifully landscaped and you will enjoy a walk through the vegetable gardens with super tall stalks of corn, sunflowers and all sorts of wonderful greens that are cut and used to prepare hotel meals. While we didn’t use the pool we did peek through the gate and there was ample seating and it looked really lovely. Our time didn’t allow us to spend any time at the spa so we’ll look forward to that some other time. Breakfast is expensive at $52 but it was delicious and well plated. We can’t wait to go back.

Our stay exceeded my wife's expectations and she can't wait to come back. We got the 7 course tasting menu which was exquisite. The grounds are well taken care of and all the staff make you feel special.

Truly a five star experience. Attentive staff . Very large and spacious room with a 19th century style claw foot tub . Michelin quality cuisine . Well manicured grounds . Relaxing and sensational spa. We enjoyed the wine tasting experience with Jeremy the sommelier . Also had an opportunity to sit by the pool and go bicycle riding.

This was my 10th trip to Langdon Hall and it was another superb stay! This time, we stayed in a Stable Terrace Room, which has recently been updated and, as the name suggests, has a private terrace off the living area. We enjoyed the pool, the hiking trails, the spa, a wine tasting, and, of course, the dining. The only thing that we did not love were the new dining chairs which we found very uncomfortable. We solved the problem the second night by enjoying our meal in our suite instead of the dining room. There is also a wine boutique with a wonderful selection of wines you can purchase to bring home with you. We will be back!

In the end, my girlfriend and I had a lovely overnight stay + meal at Langdon Hall. However, you are paying luxury prices here -- a room at Langdon Hall will set you back roughly the same as one at the Ritz or FS in Toronto -- but the service side is not quite up to that standard. For starters, I booked this last minute, on ~24 hours notice. I called before booking to confirm the Grand Tasting Menu was available for the next night. I was told that it was. Great! I confirmed a few things on my end and then went online to book the room and a dinner reservation a couple hours later. After I made the reservation, I called to confirm we were interested in the Grand Tasting Menu; nobody picked up so I left a voicemail. By the next morning (~12 hours later) -- the day we were leaving for our stay -- nobody had returned my voicemail, so I called again to confirm about the Grand Tasting Menu. I was told that it was not, in fact, available, as it requires 48 hours notice -- something I was not told when I called initially, and which (at least as of writing this) was not stated on their website. Considering the food is a central attraction here, this was really disappointing to learn. Had I not gotten my girlfriend hyped up about a last-minute getaway, I would've cancelled the trip entirely...it felt like booking a trip to Disneyland but learning after the fact the parks would be closed. It was also very frustrating to be told one thing, and then another...and borderline felt like a bait-and-switch as I wouldn't have booked the stay at all for this weekend had I known. Overall, this was a theme throughout the stay -- a general lack of coordination and awkwardness on the service side that is not what you see at 5* hotels. None of it was particularly consequential in and of itself (though the f-up over communicating the Grand Tasting Menu was a big deal in and of itself), but they all add up to less than a luxury feel. A couple examples: when trying to eat outside for lunch, we asked for a table and were then sent back inside to the hostess stand to ask for a table...and were seated anyways. Another example, we order coffee on the restaurant patio and wanted to move to another outdoor area; that was not super-straightforward either. There just wasn't a whole lot of "no-fuss" feel to the place; I chalk that up more to seeming inexperience and training of the staff rather than them intentionally being difficult (everyone was quite friendly). It also seemed that nobody recognized I *really* wanted the Grand Tasting Menu and had registered my extreme disappointment on the phone over the miscommunication. Service overall is a bit slow, from waiting for drink orders outside, to having nobody at the front desk pick up the line for 10+ minutes, to waiting 20+ minutes between our appetizer and main course at lunch. Anyways, on to the hard product. We stayed in a Cloister Room with a terrace. It was very spacious and overall a nice room, nothing great. the couc

Stayed here for a work retreat. Stayed in the attic suite which was huge and lovely . The wood burning fireplace , the beautiful bathtub and the incredibly comfortable feather top king bed. The food at the restaurant is probably the best in Canada . Make sure to book a massage at the spa. Can’t recommend this place enough .

We decided to break up the dreary month of November with a weekend getaway to Langdon Hall—I believe our 21st in the last 18 years. We were last there in August for a two-night stay during the final Barbecue Series event, and there were a couple of little issues with our visit. I forwarded them to the new GM, Andres Londono, and I was very impressed when he called to discuss them with me in detail. He assured me that our next stay would be flawless…and it was. This time we chose a room in the Main House. It was sumptuously appointed and spotless, with a thoughtful welcome note and the delicious arrival amenity we’ve come to expect and enjoy from the Langdon Hall kitchen. We settled in quickly and ordered a couple of appetizers from the room service menu in advance of our dinner reservation at Wilks’ Bar. The new(ish) decor in Wilks’ Bar and the Conservatory is pretty, but I do miss the dark, moody ambience of the Wilks’ Bar of old. Regardless, we enjoyed a delicious three-course dinner, but due to a large party in the Main Dining Room, service was quite a bit delayed. Staff was exceedingly apologetic, yet we didn’t really mind. After dinner, we returned to the room, where turndown service had been stealthily performed, and we slept soundly in the cloud of a bed, with a blazing fire a few feet away. Breakfast the next morning was as great as ever. I especially enjoyed the new Dutch Baby entree—so delicious (and beautiful) that I had it both days. It’s nice that espresso based drinks are now included in the breakfast package as well. During the day we enjoyed the trails, and I drove out to the St. Jacob’s Farmer’s Market. We also made use of the gym and played cards in the front atrium with a glass of wine. Dinner in the Main Dining Room the second night was again excellent, even with Chef Bangerter away in Europe, but there were noticeably long delays between courses. Again, without a word from us on the matter, staff apologized profusely and more than made up for the inconvenience. This kind of proactive troubleshooting is evidence of how much the Langdon Hall team really wants to make the guest experience extraordinary. They even asked if we wanted to have the fire lit in our room as we were on the dessert course, and when the meal ran long, someone returned to the room to add more wood and make sure the fire was roaring when we went upstairs. We are already looking forward to a weekend return in February. For its bucolic setting, luxury accommodations, and the finest AAA 5-Diamond dining, Langdon Hall has no rival in Ontario.
