We visited this same hotel last year and wrote a 5 star excellent review. Things changed and not for the better. Our week long stay was not entirely enjoyable. While the hotel retains some of the quality, the quality of service and room standards has gone down noticibly. Specifically, wait staff is not attentive as before and even during non peak dining hours, wait times for the first greeting and offer of a drink were long. The food was well done but taste varied between lunch and dinner, dinner being the better meal selecting the same dish. We asked 3 times for the room to be cleaned while we took a break from work. The room was not cleaned when we returned. After ordering room service, tray pick up took 3 hours. Then, when we called back to insist they remove the tray, the restaurant called our room within 5 minutes to find out where thier coffee and not milk thermos was and insisted on knowing exactly what was in the room still. We felt like inmates rather than guests. The room we were in for a week was nothing like the room on the same floor on our first trip. Cheap artificial wood TV shelves replace beautiful dressers and the room felt like a holiday inn rather than an elegant hotel like our last trip. The highlight of our stay was Rosemarie (we think) in housekeeping. She's a delight and obviously a remanent of the old days. Alberto and Taylor in the dining room were the only waiters who made us feel comfortable. One waitress moved around so quickly, we were holding our glasses to be sure they were not taken. Very nervous way of serving tables. Another waitress took so long to serve us with guests, I had to get up 3 times to find help. The bell captains were also excellent and helped greatly. (Maybe they should be put in charge of the front desk and dining room!) If you need to stay in Porto Alegre, you'll want to stay here but be prepared and if you stayed before as we did, prepare yourself for the changes in room quality and service level. Not sure what happened but it's not the same place anymore.

Assi 51 Nahalat Binyamin street Mifgash Asi is a lovely spot for breakfast or just coffee. the place named after Assi Dayan, decorated with fascinating memorabilia of Dayan, a culture hero and one of Israel's greatest film makers, author, actor, drug addict and pharmaceutical wonder

The staff were very careful, breakfast was delicious, well-sucked, comfortable room was clean, several TV channels. The shower was delicious with water at the right temperature. I loved the bed, super comfortable and loved the view through the window. The hotel is excellent location.

New and comfortable, super functional hotel with some bathroom facilities...Parking with manufacturer and charged part (R$21,00 per day), tasty breakfast and variety but tb charged part (R$30, 00 per person). In my view, if you can add the costs of parking and breakfast can stay in a hotel well better with this value!! I didn't find a good cost x benefit! TB reception officials could be more sympathetic, Like the male dry staff!

This shop is one of the most cost-effective hotels in Porto Alegre. I have stayed there every year since my business trip in 2013, because the first time I didn’t know it was in another hotel, this hotel is more suitable for business and holiday families. There is a kitchen, the breakfast is really invincible and delicious, the new restaurant moved to the street side, the street view is superb! There is a memorial park next to it, and there are various roadside fruit stalls. It is very safe and you can walk around. It feels like a small European town! The steak of the hotel is good, and the restaurant becomes a bar for drinking in the evening!

I had to carry out some emergency procedures in Porto Alegre and I really am glad to have chosen this hotel to host me, because the rooms are very large, clean and with much privacy to rest, Something that is very appreciated for a person who usually travels quite. O Hotel Express Centro Histórico superou as expectativas, estive hospedado a negócios, muito bem organizado, limpo, quartos confortáveis e com boa climatização, chuveiro muito bom, percebe-se que o hotel passou por alguma revitalização e reforma recentemente, ótimo atendimento dos recepcionistas e equipe de serviços, café da manhã simples mas completo e com boa variedade, a localização do hotel é excelente, próximo a restaurantes, centro da cidade, principais acessos, super recomendo o hotel para quem busca um bom custo-benefício e praticidade com a localização.

I came for a month to help with the disaster. The staff worked very hard to learn my name & preferences & were so warm & kind. They made us comfortable after some long hard days out in the floods. Going the extra mile were Camila at front desk, our cleaning lady who left us all thank you cookies, the restaurant staff David, Marcello, Camila Luz, Luisa, & Diorge.

Breakfast is excellent, note 10 service, clean, organized and hygienic rooms. The hotel meets all prevention safety standards at covid-19. It has excellent breakfast and dinner options, not to mention the privileged location.

Relatively new hotel which is kept in excellent condition. Rooms have lovely views and breakfast is excellent, although 1 day of the 5 we stayed they did struggle a little to keep up with demand. Best part: The pool! Great to finally have a outdoor pool with a view in the city! They do need to have some umbrellas though as it is South facing and the sun is relentless. Especially a concern with young children. Also the floor in the pool area is extremely slippery when you have wet feet. There is also a top quality shopping mall on site with some fabulous food choices. Staff were very good indeed! My only gripe was they ran out of English Breakfast Tea Bags so I had no tea for the last 2 days... but that's my own fault for being English!
