We had a largely enjoyable 4-night stay at the ViewPoint Hotel. My family and I stayed in a 2-bedroom suite in the older part of the hotel. The staff was kind and check-in was quick and easy. The views from the suite were stunning-- we especially enjoyed watching the waves crashing against the rocks during a storm. The front desk staff was lovely, very welcoming, and would assist with carrying items from shopping or running out to breakfast back to the room. A few issues: on the 3rd night the smoke alarm in the upstairs bedroom began intermittently beeping (about every 30 seconds). We called (an offsite hotel employee) for assistance and when the over the phone trouble shooting was unsuccessful, someone came to fix it in person (the battery needed to be changed). While they were quite pleasant it was unfortunate that the beeping keep us awake as long as it did and that there was no one onsite to assist. Additionally when we mentioned the issue at checkout there was no apology or real acknowledgment. Separately, one morning there was construction being done directly outside our suite-- workers placed large construction materials on the suite's deck blocking the view and were walking around directly in front of the suite (which has a wall of windows) which disturbed our privacy. We heard them say, "Oh, there is someone staying there" at one point so it was clear they had not been informed that our suite was occupied-- would be great if this had been conveyed prior to their arrival. We had previously considered returning during the summer months but the experience with the construction workers showed how little privacy would be on offer when the hotel is fully booked. Other than these things this was a lovely spring break from my graduate program and we may return for spring break next year.
