I prepaid for my room and notified the hotel it would be a late check in which was confirmed. The car sent to the airport (at 1:00 am) refused to take us to the hotel saying it was sold out. My travel companion and myself spent the next two hours trying to get the driver to take us to the hotel. He refused. We spoke to owner, Carolyne, who assured us the rooms were secure. The driver took us to an apartment complex 30 minutes away stating there was no occupancy at the Baraka location. More calls to the Baraka and with Carolyne who then changed her story saying the apartment was very nice and would send a driver at 6:4 5am to pick us up and take us back to the Baraka to join our group to leave on a long bus ride to Wamba in Samburu county. After two hours of battling with these people, we agreed to stay in the 3 bedroom apartment was we had already lost 2 hours of much needed rest. Our driver took us up to the apartment, opened the door and discovered an man on the sofa watching TV. After another 20 minute conversation with Carolyne, we were told our rooms were in the apartment and would have to share it with the strange man. Reluctantly, we went inside to our respective rooms. Fortunately, we had our own bathrooms and locking doors. Three hours later we were picked up and delivered to the Baraka. What a horrible experience. I would NEVER recommend this outfit to anyone. Nairobi is a large city and surely has much better hotels.
