I've stayed there a few nights, and return again & again; even contemplating a long stay. The place is clean; the communal kitchen & lounge area is inviting, the in-house pub & adjoining balcony is cosy and gives the feel of a private party, above the bustle of Long Street below. Communal bathrooms are OK, kept clean. I love the many nooks & turns & corners of the old house and the creaking wooden floors. But the guests are what make the place feel like a home away from home -- an eclectic mix of local & foreign visitors passing through the city. There's a feeling & atmosphere of being in a backpackers in a foreign city, somewhere abroad, making one feel as if one is on holiday, somewhere away from home. I love this place! It's become my accommodation of first choice, for a party night or two in the city.

Stayed at Greenhouse for about a week in June and it was a lovely experience. Excellent location on the Main Road, close to the V&A Waterfront, and down the road from cafe's and stores. Barbara and Harry were wonderful hosts who made my colleague and I feel right at home, and were always up for a friendly chat. Rooms were clean and provided everything we needed. There was a microwave on the shared landing, and cutlery and plates were available to take as needed. The room had a mini fridge, and coffee/tea making facilities. The bed was big and comfortable, and the bathroom, while small, was very clean and comfortable. The room was perfect for someone like me who was the only occupant. I also had access to an iron and ironing board, which I appreciated very much. The guesthouse is charming with wooden floors and stained glass doors in the reception, and it was a serene space to be in. My room was at the back which meant I could enjoy the overall quiet and privacy. No breakfast, but seeing as there are multiple excellent cafes and restaurants down the road, this is not a drawback at all. The only point I have is that the wall between my room and the neighboring room was very thin, and I was able to hear certain nightly sounds from the couple occupying that room. Because the bedframe seems to be mounted against the wall in question, drywall if I'm correct, I did feel some movement and vibration. It might be a good idea to inform guests that walls are thin and sound travels. I've seen some reviews mentioning homeless people, but that is the reality of South Africa, no matter the neighborhood, and Barbara and Harry cannot be held responsible for that. They were lovely hosts who were genuinely interested in their guests, and I would certainly recommend Greenhouse to other travellers.

Lovely hotel. Very spacious suites with great views and good amenities. Staff outstanding; Thandi, in particular, paid special attention to our needs in the restaurant and bar and was extremely pleasant. Food service at pool a little slow but quality of food good. Pool very private and good ambience. We had two rooms: 540 top floor beautiful sea view. 427 lower floor and view of adjacent hotel and partial sea view. Rooms need a little attention: no bottle opener, double adaptor or wine glasses when we arrived. Balcony doors don’t close properly but not a real problem for us as we had great sunny weather and little wind. Central location - great walkability and good neighbourhood with plenty of restaurants and bars and close proximity to the promenade for a morning run, evening walk or swim in the two nearby tidal pools.

John and his wife made our stay an absolute delight. Upon arrival we learned that John's wife upgraded us, initially I requested 1 room with 2 beds with onsuite, and she gave us 2 rooms for my brother and myself. Everything was clean. Location was near Cavendish which was great and the evening we went to a show and it was 2min away from the venue. Thank you John and wife we will definitely be seeing you soon

Excellent
YYa ChuLocation was a bit walking distance from waterfront. And the roads were under construction, it was not easy to access Uber or cabs. It was also the convention time, the hotel was packed. Breakfast hours were very noisy and food was soso. It would be a great location for business travelers to the convention centers. Staff were all very friendly and quick checking in and out. But besides the hotel, there was nothing nearby to do at night.
GGuest UserUpgraded to a Loft suite. Excellent (once the air conditioner unit was explained). Staff great. Housekeeping a bit too eager. On site restaurant Liberty's seems slow and disorganized, even for South Africa and especially for a Hilton's. Free shuttle to V&A Waterfront every two hours. Walking distance to the Old Biscuit Mill (a Saturday morning must-do). Regular and reliable taxi service around Cape Town at reasonable rates, for drop off and pickup. Airport shuttle. Neighborhood was very safe Don't pre-book tours before you get here; Yasir and his team will take good care of you.
GGuest UserIt is very close to the airport. The drop-off service is on time and safe. The services are excellent. The room is clean and the hotel has security. It is very safe. New facilities, rich breakfast, restaurant, delicious taste
MMoMoCHu5360 Overall the stay was great, but finding mould in the in the vent in the toilet was an uncomfortable surprise.
Breakfast was lovely.
Staff were extremely friendly; however one staff member would sing and speak really loudly to no one in particular while tending the bar.
MMaxim KeynoThe hotel has a convenient location in the center of Cape Town. The rooms are comfortable enough for one or a young couple. If you plan to walk around the center - it's quite easy. I got to the Waterfront by walking in 20 minutes along busy streets and did not feel any danger anywhere. Small shops and supermarkets around the hotel allow you to cover all your everyday needs.
The breakfast is quite meager, but literally around the corner on the next street you can find good cafes where you can have a great breakfast for a reasonable price and a supermarket where you can buy ready-made food.
Immediately to the right of the exit from the hotel is the entrance to a beautiful park, from where wonderful views of the mountains open.
The staff is responsive and helps to solve all problems.
The only drawback is the noise from the air conditioning systems coming from the yard at night.
FFGTRTDThe location is good. Not too far from a Woolworths grocery store and a coffee shop. The coffee shop opens really early which is essential when loadshedding hits and you can't make coffee in the hotel. The coffee was inconsistently replenished so again, being near a Bootleggers coffee was necessary. The hotel doesn't have a generator so when there is load shedding, you will be affected. If you are going to arrive early, you won't be able to check in early as there was no one who could help us at the front desk until 3pm which is standard check in time. We ended up having lunch in the restaurant so we weren't too inconvenienced but if your flight is much earlier in the day, do be aware of this. Otherwise, not a bad stay and I would consider staying again.
GGuest UserHaving travelled extensively and stayed in numerous hotels worldwide, I can confidently state that my recent experience was the worst ever. Despite seeing several negative reviews about their service, I thought they were just occasional lapses. However, I soon discovered that the hotel had a persistent service problem. I had a problem with my reservation and spent two days trying to resolve it, but no one cared. To make matters worse, I was charged ten times the amount I had originally paid for the same room (i.e., $300 instead of $30) without any reasonable explanation. When I questioned this, the staff merely shrugged it off, citing fluctuating prices as the reason. The lady in charge of reservations was extremely rude and disrespectful throughout the ordeal. In addition to the issues with my reservation and the exorbitant charges, the air conditioner was not working properly and made a lot of noise. Furthermore, the fridge in my room made a huge noise, which disturbed my sleep at 2 am (I recorded a video as proof). Moreover, the noise levels in the dormitory were unacceptable all the night! making it impossible to get a good night's sleep. In short, I urge anyone considering staying at this hotel to think twice and look for other options.
CChisama NaifiNestled in the vibrant heart of Cape Town lies the enchanting A Sunflower Stop Backpackers—a haven that marries comfort with an authentic sense of wanderlust. From the moment you step through the doors, a warm embrace of hospitality envelops you. The hostel's charm resides not just in its impeccably clean rooms or its vibrant decor, but in the genuine sense of community it fosters among travelers from around the globe.

A Sunflower Stop Backpackers transcends the ordinary, transforming a stay into an unforgettable journey, leaving you with cherished memories and an undeniable longing to return.
JJulian PeensThis bed and breakfast is in the ideal location to visit Simon’s town and its coastline however the actual set up of the bed and breakfast is a huge let down.
We arrived to find our room was not ready, once it was the place still looked unkempt, there was a bucket in the bath, the furniture had not been returned to its original locations well and the complimentary items seemed used.
On our second night there was load shedding a common occurrence however there seemed to be no precautionary measures taken and we had to use our phone lights to climb the three flights of stairs to our room only to find the rechargeable light (obviously for such occasions) had no batteries and was therefore useless. As South African citizens we fully understand the uncertainty of power but for the cost and normal clientele of this accommodation we really expected there to be more in place.
The meal times had been adjusted for the convenience of the staff who were on the premises compared to the welcome sheet details we received on arrival. The whole place seemed to be being run by support staff with no obvious manager on site for the three days we were there (we stayed over a weekend which I would assume to be a prime time)
There is about 4 parking sports in front of the building but they were not being used to their full potential and often we had to park a little further away.
Overall the location was the main positive. Considering the price we would have hoped to have better amenities and hope that the profile for this accommodation can be amended as there are no pools on the property unlike what the description had lead us to believe.
Luckily the charm of Simon’s town and the beaches made up for the serious lack of attention to detail and luxury you would assume a place this price and in this location would have.
3/10 would probably not go there again.
