Overall we were disappointed. The bedroom and bathroom in the main house were fine if a little faded. The public rooms were somewhat limited - not much room for residents if it is fully booked with added non-residents dining. The dining room itself was quaint but the food was poor - overcooking an apparent problem. We found the service and staff no better than adequate. Breakfast was the same. We never came across any management or anyone who presented themselves as such so there was little use in raising issues. We will simply vote with our feet and not return. We would have expected more from a long standing Blue Book member

Absolutely beautiful from start to finish. Beautiful well maintained period house, rooms immaculate & lots of lovely attention to small details. Felt totally relaxed & welcomed from moment we arrived. Food in restaurant was of really high quality & served beautifully in a really unique setting. Close to all amenities of the town but still so tranquil. Would go back in a heartbeat.

We had the pleasure of having our wedding here in August 2024 and it exceeded our expectations. From the vey moment we engaged with Paul, Orla & Claire in 2023 right up until the day of our wedding, the service level we experienced was fantastic. Nothing was a problem. The day itself was exceptional, from the house, to the flowers (arranged by the lovely Joyce), the food, not to mention the wonderful staff of Ghan House. Our guests were blown away by it all. Food was exceptional! Those of us who stayed overnight loved all the rooms, the comfort of the beds, not to mention the fabulous toiletries. Breakfast next morning was amazing also. Absolutely love this place. The rooms are spotless, fluffy towels, bathrobes, all toiletries provided. But the highlights are the fabulous evening meal and the delicious breakfast. You won’t find better. Everything is homemade, thoughtfully served and tastes wonderful. Thank you Paul and your team.

Had a wonderful time at Ghan House. The rooms were super comfortable and clean. Beds were to die for! Lovely roll top bath to soak in; the only slight criticism is that the bath water could have been a bit hotter. The breakfast was amazing. Great choice and wonderful local produce. Highly recommend the eggs and salmon and granola and yogurt with fruit. Owners were friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. Would be back in a flash!

I have been coming to Ghan House for 25 years. Over that time, the warmth of the welcome by Paul Carroll has been wonderful. The consistently high quality and range of food at dinner complemented by a really good wine list has always been a highlight. No where else in Carlingford comes close. The home cooked breakfasts are just epic. Just try the poached eggs or scrambled egg and salmon. Ghan House is made to feel like a home from home by Paul and his staff. We had the best and most comfortable king sized bed I have ever slept in. We cant wait to go back. David and Christina

Lovely guest house and restaurant on its own grounds with very friendly welcome and staff. We ate in the onsite restaurant and had an excellent meal with a wide selection of wines. Room was very comfortable and well appointed. Irish breakfast was lovely. We’ll be back

Beautiful place to escape to for a few days away or even a night away on a special occasion. The bedroom was lovely as was the bathroom. In fact the whole house was really warm and cosy thanks to the heat pump which keeps the temperature steady. We had dinner in the house and it was fantastic. Everything was freshly prepared and very well cooked. The breakfast the following morning was also excellent with a wide choice. All in all we had a lovely time in Ghan House. Our only regret was the garden wasn't very elegant due to recent flood damage but the team are working hard to restore it to its normal high standard. Carlingford must be one of the most unannounced towns in Ireland. It's a fabulous small town, full of character and lovely people. Don't miss a cuppa and cake in Ruby Ellen's.
