Crown Hotel Wetheral

The hotel is located in a small town with a very beautiful surrounding. It is very comfortable to walk around the hotel in the morning. The hotel rooms are also very beautiful and well-planned. When it is cold at night, you can turn on the heater, which is very warm and considerate! The breakfast is also delicious, and the dining environment is also very beautiful!

The whole hotel was shabby and not too clean but that was not a surprise as there was hardly any staff at the hotel, there was no Breakfast despite us having paid for it, and the only staff evident were a chambermaid and the maintenance man who were doing their best to help people but were unable to as it wasn’t their job they were trying to do. There was a very rude man who I spoke to on the phone when trying to organise a refund for the non existent breakfast, apparently the chef was away due to a bereavement, but no alternative arrangements had been made despite them telling us on both evening that there would be breakfast the next morning. We did eventually get our refund but it took a lot of phone calls and nearly a month for it to come through. The only good thing about the hotel was the situation as it was close to where we wanted to be, it was a real shame to see a beautiful old and historic building neglected in this way, we were looking forward to staying there as we had been told by friends what a lovely hotel it was but that was obviously before it changed hands last year. We will not be staying again or recommending it to our friends
Carlisle Station Hotel, Sure Hotel Collection by BW

Low budget - hotel decor dated - windows old and badly painted. Welcome was friendly and helpful. Bar but no evening meals or lunches. Next door to Carlisle Railway Station on one side and Costa Coffee on other side. Several stairs to get up with cases. Single bed was surprisingly comfortable and surprisingly cosy. Small bath and shower - lashings of hot water. Breakfast adequate - a bit of everything. Bacon was dried out by 7.30am but sausages were delicious. Solid fried eggs on offer. Mainly tinned fruit with apple and yoghurt. Ubiquitous coffee machine…. Instant is better .. but they are all doing it. Juice and fresh milk on offer. Small selection of cereals. My room was cheap - noisy outside… the car park had replacement coach services… but worst of the swearing and shouting stopped around 1.00am. Hotel was warm and dry. A small lift for one with luggage. Staff were very kind - left my luggage in a locked room while I went to get my hire car. At half the price of similar low-facilities hotels I was happy enough. Might do without breakfast in future and go to Costa.
Ibis Carlisle City Centre

The morning after the night before. It gives me great satisfaction to be able to pen a review of all things positive. Only a 1 night stop over en route to Scotland from Manchester. On arrival, front of house team Theo and Mel excelled. After a breeze of a check-in the first thing I noticed was the beautiful, spacious and most importantly clean Restaurant and bar area. Anybody staying here will not be disappointed. Thankfully dogs are welcome but kept away from main eating areas, a rule we were happy to adhere to. Theo in particular is a staff member Ibis/Accor should be extremely proud of. He was very knowledgeable about the chain and I could imagine all things Accor would be his specialised subject on Mastermind. I have stayed at the Travelodge down the rd and for a hotel of the same raring, the Ibis is streets ahead. I hope Management take the time to read this review and reward staff members (Accor)dingly. Well done!!!

Myself and my partner booked a 2 night stay here for 28th-30th September 2022. We left the morning after the first night despite it being a prepaid, non refundable booking. The room was worn, creaky (sincerest apologies to whoever stayed in the room below us) and the tv looked like it had been bought in a second hand shop. The window would only open a few inches but wouldn't stay open and the room was like an oven, even without the heating on. The only good thing about the room was that the towels and bed linen were clean. It was a tiny cupboard of a room, and given how we'd booked weeks in advance, you'd have thought we'd have been allocated a much better room - if there was such a room. The hotel wasn't exactly full. I didn't need to see the room stats on the PMS to know that. Also, having worked reception in 3 city centre hotels in Newcastle, I was amazed that the room key has a key ring with the room number on it. If we'd mislaid the key, anyone could've gotten into our room. The reception staff weren't exactly paying attention. Time for an upgrade to swipe cards there, I think! As for the staff - we weren't impressed, although the girl on nights was smiley and polite, and was much more the type you'd hope to have greeting you at reception. The staff on reception when we arrived, however, could benefit from being a lot more personable. They weren't rude or impolite, just not very welcoming. Overall , we were very disappointed with our choice of hotel (and destination) and won't be back. Do yourselves a massive favour and pour some money into a refurb, and some customer service training for the reception staff (or take their example from the girl on nights).

This hotel was simply perfect for us. Normally we like to stay within a hotel building but we were given an apartment within a townhouse along the street. It was beautiful everything in it that we needed and more. It was comfortable clean and spacious. The hotel staff were lovely too.
