Talbot Hotel Carlow

We recently stayed in the Talbot hotel in Carlow, the evening before attending a wedding in Ballykealy. When booking, I had requested a quiet room , at the end of the corridor if at all possible. A bonus would have been the top floor. The receptionist Tufah was so gracious and welcoming. I was delighted that the hotel had made a note of my request and accommodated me in a room as requested. I appreciate that this isn’t always possible so it was wonderful. As a particularly poor sleeper, it was important to me. I was so happy to be accommodated on the top floor! The room was spotless and spacious. I loved the amount of space in the bathroom, especially in terms of places to put toiletries etc. We dined in the bar and the food was delicious and plentiful.  Breakfast the next morning was delicious, with plenty of choice. I was really impressed with the hotel and left looking forward to a return stay two nights later. Our second stay didn’t disappoint.  Julius on reception assured me of a quiet room- and that is what we got. We arrived quite late in the evening and Martin, the night porter quickly and efficiently checked us in. Our room was a mirror image of the previous stay, and again I slept really well. In the early morning my husband visited the leisure centre and enjoyed his swim. He found the staff to be friendly and helpful. This is something that we really appreciated during our two brief stays- courteous and friendly staff who excel at their job. We both look forward to staying there again in the future. 😊

The friendliest stuff I have ever encountered in any hotel. There was a plate of macaroon cakes left in our room along with a lovely note wishing us a happy wedding anniversary. We were treated like royalty. We arrived after nine with the chef was still happy to stay open just to feed us. You don’t get this type of service very often.

From the time we entered the property untill we vacated everything was fantastic. The ladies at the reception gave us a lovely welcome. The room was very nice and spacious,tea and coffee making facilities, good size bathroom and a big TV. Beautiful selection of choices on the menu. Staff were excellent and couldn't do enough for you. Breakfast was very good, with a choice of hot and cold foods. Help yourself. Sport was available on the televisions. Swimming pool etc. A big carpark. Hotel and carpark wheelchair accessible. A great atmosphere. Great location. Highly recommended. Apart from the main menu, there is also an offer of a late night snack.

Just home from a family weekend stay and couldn’t fault the hotel on anything which is rare for me to say ! From the lovely girls at reception at check in and right across the hotel , staff wise they couldn’t do enough for you ! Very accommodating and always checking if everything was ok. The food breakfast and the dinner was beautiful. The bedrooms was lovely , very clean but the beds were sooo comfy we all commented on them, also loved the wee treat left in the room , crunchie Friday we will definitely return

Love the Talbot for a family getaway. Food was great, done is great for the kids and staff cannot do enough for you. In particular Pati on reception was so helpful and friendly and Luke in the bar.

Hotel is gone down bar staff very rude i stayed with my kid who is atustisum and one bar staff shouted at her over a misunderstanding over 3 euro apple juice food is good. Beds very uncomftable and tvs was crap coumdnt even swich volume up or down i ve been coming here over last 3 years but since then its gone down hill i will not be retuning here
