Stayed at the Westin for 5 nights while attending an onsite conference. My stay started off on the wrong foot as my room wasn’t ready at check in and it was after 4 PM. I was offered a thin apology and was told they would text me when the room was ready. I was also told I could enjoy the pool and amenities. Really? I just arrived after 6 hours of flying, I'm a businessman, traveling by myself, I’m not using the pool while I wait for my room. It would have been nice to have a complementary drink at the bar while I waited or an offer of some Bonvoy points. I walked the long way back to my car and left only to receive a text message about 15 minutes later that my room was now ready. Upon return there was now a line of guests waiting to check in with only a single employee working the front desk. This was unacceptable given it was a Saturday night and check in was slow. Also, my room keys nor my breakfast coupons were not ready and he had to hand write my name and date on each of the 5 breakfast coupons. These things should have already been done. As other’s have mentioned, the layout of the property is strange. My room was in the Grand View building. I had to walk past the pool, take the elevator up one level, walk a long hallway, past an outdoor courtyard, enter back into the building (can only do this on the first floor), and take another elevator up one floor to my room. Both elevators are very slow. My conference was in the conference center which was back upfront to the right of the main resort entrance. So, another long walk from the room to the conference center. There are no shortcuts for any of these walks. Guests should also know there’s nothing in the immediate area so if you don’t have a car you are stuck with the resort restaurants. A few positive notes; the room was very large, well appointed, and with an okay view and was quiet. The Bonvoy breakfast amenity was appropriately applied and added value and the breakfast in the restaurant was excellent and service was great. This resort would make a great base for visiting Legoland but I can't recommend it for much else.
