Relaxing ambience from the moment you walk into the lobby. Impressive art and decor throughout the whole castle. But the quality of food stood out but not more than the quality of service and staff. So impressed with everyone at the desk but most of all so impressed with Anthony and his kind and generous interactions. The floor staff at the breakfast are also incredibly kind and friendly. That quality of service is really the cherry on top of an excellent venue here in Roscommon.

Stayed at Kilronan Castle weekend of the 15th March 2024. I am really sorry I didn't get the names of those who made this stay absolutely fantastic. From those on reception, in the restaurant, the bar, the spa and everyone in between, they are a credit to the hotel. We were celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary, got a lovely upgrade in the room. In order to totally realise & feel how good this place is you need to experience it for yourself, as my words wouldn't do it justice.

Just an overnight stay so didn’t get a chance to enjoy all the facilities such as the Spa. Our room was in the old part of the hotel and was full of character along with the necessary modern facilities. The room was a good size with tea/coffee maker, safe, iron and bathroom supplies. The only negative to our entire stay was minor damage to the bathroom sink and another minor problem with the shower taps which actually came off. So minor that I forgot to mention them at reception when checking out. We ate at a function in the hotel but the food was fantastic and I have no reason to think the restaurant food would be any different. There is a very comfortable bar area in the basement. Breakfast was absolutely superb with the usual range of fayre as well as extra items off the menu if you wanted them. We didn’t have time to fully explore but the grounds have a 30 minute walk to enjoy the outside space.

Just returned from a really fantastic overnight stay in Kilronan. One of the best hotel breaks we have had in Ireland. The leisure facilities, the room, the food and the breakfast were all exceptional. Staff were so friendly. The lake loop walk is a must also. Already looking forward to returning here again!

Beautiful castle to see and stay in. Explored the grounds on walking paths. The main objective of the stay is to get a good nights sleep. Difficult when you can't cool the room below 22 degrees. Very fluffy quilt, but too warm with and not warm enough without.

Have been to Kilronan Castle a number of times but our most recent visit is probably going to be our last !.. Firstly, booked it several months in advance to ensure we secured the booking to find out a few days before we visited that they were now selling the same deal at over €160 less than we agreed to pay and while a gentleman phoned us to confirm our reservation and ask us to book into the fine dining restaurant on day of arrival (which we declined); there was no mention of the new discounted deal on offer !. On contacting the hotel once I realised same and as we were within the cancellation period; they agreed to match the reduced price (but... we shouldn't have had to ask..).. The room in the castle was very nice and while it showed signs of ageing (cracked sink surround); that's to be expected in a castle of it's age.. The food in the casual dining area was nice but honestly, it seemed like a kids portion despite the associated charge for same (2 mains; 1 dessert; 1 x 0-0 beer and 2 coffee's = €80+ Euro). The staff are certainly friendly and the grounds/walks are very pleasant.. however.. we found it unbelievable that they refused to serve sandwiches/toasties after 4:30pm in the evening (even as room service !).. and when we did order one the following day (before the cut-off time !); it was a very poor effort considering the €15 per sandwich charge !.. The big let down was the Douglas Hyde Restaurant meal included in the deal (supposed to be the highlight of the stay !); start-2-finish, one of the most bland meals we have both eaten in many years... and no idea what the 'green stuff' poured over the potatoes was but it was woeful.. all in all.. not on the return list and considering the overall cost of 2 nights B&B plus an evening meal.. not value for money either.. Based on a chat with one of the staff, it seems that 'Weddings' are their main area of attention.. together with some US folks coming thru' on tours.. It's also interesting to note that the 'safe' in the rooms aren't even attached to anything (wardrobe frame; wall.. nothing) so somebody could just pick it up; stick it in a case and walk out with it ... hardly the most secure 'safe' for guest to use - perhaps something that should be reviewed ?..

Just back from 2 enjoyable nights at Kilronan. Very relaxing and staff very helpful as usual. On a negative note the food seens to have deteriorated significantly. In particular the Douglas Hyde restaurant has gone downhill. A very limited menu and the chef unwilling to deviate much to accomadate the non adventurous eater in our group. 2 of us we were looking forward to the "rack of lamb" which consistent of 1 single lamb cutlet. All of us left feeling hungry and if there was a takeawy nearby we would have gone for one. Having said that we ended up having a great night in the dungeon bar which has really improved in terms of atmosphere.

Lovely location and castle updated very nicely, but a number of really small things were really annoying. Cord on bedspread was coming off (tripping hazard), ask (really told) first by the guy vacuuming to wait while he did the elevator and then by the lady cleaning the bathrooms!! Really? Had they waited an hour the place would have been deserted!! Then they cleaned up the tables of small plates and bread baskets, during dinner, you actually had to stop eating as they were very intrusive. And as a finale, in the morning the elevator doors would not close, and many people had to truge their suitcases down a few flights of stairs.

Stayed 2 nights here. Very relaxing. Nice big room and bathroom. We had dinner in the Douglas Hyde Restaurant, it was a culinary delight. Our package included the use of the spa and spa treatments. Everything was excellent. Great professional therapists. We had drinks in the little bar room it was so cosy. There was a wedding on when we arrived, the venue for the wedding is so discreet and never encroaches on the other guests. We will be back .
