Stayed here for seven nights on a very enjoyable trip to Porto. Staff excellent, all very friendly and helpful. Location very good and easy to find from metro station. Plenty of restaurants within easy walking distance. Breakfast good, good selection of hot and cold foods and fresh fruit. Complementary snacks in the afternoon on the roof terrace a nice touch. Bedroom comfortable, large bathroom. Only criticism is lack of wardrobe space so had to leave some clothes in cases as no room to hang them all up but this did not spoil our visit. Overall a very good stay and would recommend as a good base when visiting Porto.

This is the BEST hostel I’ve stayed in, would honestly stay here over a Hilton. I booked a double private room with breakfast and was upgraded to a family room - despite not needing the extra bed, it was nice to have the extra space and not feeling cramped. The staff were amazing and couldn’t do anymore to assist me in anyway. There was an ample choice of options at breakfast, with the usual stuff found in a continental buffet. I must say the food was delicious! I also dined at the restaurant in the evening which was also delicious and VERY well priced - €12 for a meal and a drink! The room was very spacious, especially as I was a solo traveller. The bathroom was well maintained and the entire room was CLEAN! Along with very comfortable beds and passable pillows (but I am fussy with pillows). The location was perfect! Just 10-15 minutes from Sao Bento and around the corner from the river. I must say I did feel EXTREMELY SAFE both in the hotel and in Porto in general. Why would I stay here over a Hilton? For the price I paid, it was extremely well value and I must say I had a 5* experience here.
Overlooking the rooftops of Porto, our hotel is in the historical center of Gaia. A short walk from the Douro River, we are within 15 minutes of WOW Porto – World of Wine, the Alfandega Congress Center, and Vila Nova de Gaia-Devesas train station. Our wellness center features a relaxing spa while our 2,000 sq. m. event space is ready to host any function.

Definitely not a 4 star hotel. No restaurant facilities only basic breakfast.Basic facilities throughout. The metro trains were in an open topped tunnel 15 metres from our room.(picture 2)The noise was similar to a jet taking off 18-20 hours per day.)The shower was in the room and had no barrier at bottom of door so room flooded when you shower.(picture 3)A coffee machine that had no capsules or milk or sugar. No wardrobe only 2 small drawers.(picture 4)It is an up market Youth Hostel. The 2 stars are for staff only

I arrived at the hotel on 20 November 2022 for a 5 night stay. The stay was business related and with so many hotels to choose from, I decided to go with the Porto Palacio. What an excellent choice! The hotel is absolutely brilliant - I cannot find a fault. Check-in was very smooth and on arrival to the room - wow - very modern, crisp clean sheets on the bed and a spacious room. In terms of food, the Breakfast experience was the best part of the stay for me. I have stayed in many hotels around the world - both on a personal basis and a business basis - I can honestly say that the breakfast staff at the Porto Palacio are the best I've ever come across. On arrival, I was seated quickly. On Day 1, the staff members memorised what I had that cannot be chosen by the buffet - for example, a tea and two plates (as I like two plates) - on Days 2 and for the rest of the trip, I didn't even need to ask. I was called by my Title and Surname on arrival. The whole experience was brilliant. I would like to mention a lady called Rosa and another lady (they both greet staff members at the door) - their hospitality skills are great and they are always smiling - nothing is too much for them. I didn't eat at the restaurant in the evening but had room service as personally, I like to relax after a day at the office. The food was of good quality and was tasty and piping hot. I used the gym during my stay - the gym is open to members of the public, therefore is not your usual hotel gym. It's huge - there are loads of machines and I was never waiting for someone to finish using something. Staff members are friendly. All in all - a brilliant stay and is a genuine 5 star hotel! I will return to the Porto Palacio both on a business basis and also on a personal basis - Porto looks like a great city! It's a shame that I didn't have time to look around as I had a busy schedule but I will certainly be back! Thank you!!

Very clean and cozy hotel. Very attentive staff and willing to help with everything necessary. The rooms are very cozy and comfortable, you can see that the bathrooms have been renovated to make them more comfortable. The breakfast area is very spacious and has a variety of fruits, sausages, pastries and pastries. To add a drawback, it is a little far from the center or leisure areas or restaurants within walking distance.

Arrived on a Sunday Afternoon, to a helpful and friendly English speaking reception. Whilst it was 4pm our room was not ready so they changed the allocation. Next morning we were not on the breakfast list they had not amended the room no. In addition the breakfast area was overrun with what turned out to be about 4 coach loads of people. There was a shortage of cutelry, crockery and food. I ended up with coffee in a paper cup. No hot food left at that time. Subsequent breakfast times were less busy with a little more choice. However we realised that the hotel is set up for basic stop overs on way to/from airport and coach tours, not a mid week stay like ours. The 304 bus stop right outside the hotel reception was always on time in the mornings but took up to 30 minutes to get to the centre of Porto. The return by bus was not so reliable, with busses not turning up to schedule and the last bus getting back to the hotel just after 8pm. I am not sure if there is a bar open in the evening, I certainly did not notice one. Overall this is a clean basic busy hotel and did not suit our purpose.

Excellent

GGuest UserIt was so beautiful and insanely good!
We stayed in a dormitory with a mix of 6 people. The room has a locker with a key, two separate toilets and two showers. The hair dryer is also very good. You can also use the shared kitchen and refrigerator.
The staff was very kind and helpful.
Location was perfect, far enough away from the busy city centre but still convenient for cool bars, restaurants etc. Our room was perfect, beautiful decor, very comfortable bed and private access to the gorgeous garden. Staff couldn't be more helpful with advice of where to visit in and around Porto. Sara in particular was delightful - so friendly, nothing was too much trouble for her and she made the most delicious omelettes in the morning! The restaurant food was amazing, we ate there twice during our stay for dinner. Will definitely stay here again when we visit Porto.
GGuest UserThis Porto hotel has only been open a couple of years. It is a little bit away from the Douro river, about a 15-20 in walk, and the historic area but it is right on the Metro Red Line which is the one that goes to and from the airport. It is also only one stop to the Trindade station which connects to other lines and down to the river. The Lapa station is a short walk to/from the hotel. The hotel is very nice and very accommodating, the rooms are good sized, there is an in-house restaurant and bar, along with an outdoor bar with a limited menu by the pool, which often has music in the evenings. The morning breakfast buffet has many choices and was well presented, thanks to Isabela and Jorbert who took good care of us each morning. There is no Executive lounge or full-time concierge but the front desk and bell staff were very knowledgeable and helpful. Joao was a great bartender for an evening stop at the bar. Views are across the roofs of Porto and the hotel is so new, there is still vacant lot on one side, that is left over from construction and the closest route to the hotel from the Metro is across a trail through a dirt lot (you can take sidewalks that take a little longer). Would return on another trip to Porto.
GGuest UserThe room is relatively close to the city center. The room is big, really big, and the sanitation is OK. The whole hotel is full of blue elements. The breakfast is about the same. The corridor is a bit narrow and dark. They have a problem, they can't check in early, it's in the afternoon After 3 o'clock, before leaving the store at 11 o'clock, most hotels can check in at 12 o'clock. I don't quite understand this, and it's impossible to negotiate.
NNavigator45896578922Hidden away in plain sight on a beautiful square, the hotel entrance, reception area, breakfast area and staircase are full of beautiful original features. These disappear higher up unfortunately, as the building has obviously been through renovation and extension. My room was a decent size with a lovely terrace complete with sun loungers and a view over gardens; very pretty. Smart, decent sized bathroom with nice toiletries and a lovely walk in shower. On the down side, there were no drawers in the room at all, only four clothes hangers on an open hanging frame and no light near the mirror. There is room for a set of drawers and would have welcomed some. Breakfast was a good spread every day: lovely bread and pastries, toaster, fruit, cold meats etc but after a couple of mornings it was all a bit same-y. Great coffee machine! Reception is staffed 24/7 and every member of staff was really pleasant and helpful. A good 20minute downhill walk down to the historic centre was pleasant - a bit less so on the way back up! The hop on hop off bus stop is just across the square so that was very convenient too. All in all a lovely place to stay and I would recommend
WWen DengHotel location is very good, the room is very new, the area is large, there are parking spaces. Service attitude is very good. Room facilities are very convenient to use
It is more convenient to go to the city and can walk.
I stayed here with my daughter for 2 nights in July 2023. Location Getting a taxi from the airport was quick and easy the taxi rank just outside arrivals. We arrived around lunchtime and got a taxi easily, plenty waiting and no queue. The journey to the hotel wasn't too long. Arriving at the hotel you do have to carry your case up a few steps at the entrance just something to be aware of, and my case was fairly weighty as we were away for a week in total. Not sure if there is another entrance to the hotel. There is a small lift to the room, we never had any trouble getting the lift when we needed it. There weren't any stairs that we could see other than the fire escapes. Once inside the hotel had a cool calm traditional feel to it. The staff on reception were really lovely and check in went smoothly. We were given vouchers for a complementary drink at the bar One of our rooms wasn't ready, we arrived about 1pm but we were able to get the key for one room which was great meaning we could drop our luggage off in the room and freshen up. My room was a reasonable sized well equipped double. I think some of the other reviews I read suggested the rooms were dated. I thought of them more as traditional style. Dark wood fittings. There was plenty of storage, a safe, comfy chair as well as desk and chair. TV with good selection of channels, mini bar, complimentary water and a packet of crisps. The bathroom was a good size, complimentary toiletries and a generous sized bath with shower over. All in all a very comfortable room which I felt was good value for what we had paid. My daughter had what i think was described as a family room so not sure whether they put an extra bed in if required but it was a really good sized double think it had a king size bed. They gave us rooms next to each other on the first floor which was nice The room had a large window overlooking the terrace below which let in a lot of light. I can't comment on breakfast as we were on a room only basis. There is a lovely bar area and outside terrace. Only downside the wooden tables and chairs outside did look particularly worn they were just in need of a fresh coat of wood stain really. The hotel was on a quiet street within walking distance of the old part of Porto. There was a bar/cafe just down from the hotel and a small supermarket just on the next street about a minute away perfect for stocking up on snacks and things and the after sun we forgot to pack. Very reasonably priced and taking card and cash. Just one thing to bear in mind I found that I used more cash than I expected quite a few of the bars and cafes we went in only took cash so something to plan for as I think I had got into a habit of carrying very little actual cash these days. It doesn't take long to walk from the hotel to the river, albeit we went down some very steep streets and steps. Porto is very hilly but well worth the effort of all the climbs Less than 10 min
IinViaggioConGretaWe stayed in a stable apartment for 3 nights. Check-in mode to be implemented, since you need to call the number and agree on the time of arrival (for foreigners this provides the cost of the call, so you might need to review). A spacious, not clean apartment with essential things, but with a reasonable number of towels, as the bathroom is blind and a stick is missing, We had asked to leave the baggage in another place after check out and we stayed over 15 minutes waiting, since the cytophone was broken and we had to call the famous number again. Another small detail: being near a hospital and working on the nearby road, we have unfortunately been waken up by the latter.
GGuest UserThe treatment I received at this hostel was despicable, unreasonable and hostile. My flight was delayed for 5 hours and whilst in airport I received a very encouraging email from 'so cool' explaining reception closes at 9pm and if I haven't checked in by then I would have to wait to the morning. Having found somewhere else to stay for that night, I turned up at this hostel the next morning, the rigid lady at reception simply wasn't interested or concerned in the least of my predicament and informed me I was a ”no show” and my room was gone for the whole 3 nights I'd booked. I asked for a partial refund for the further 2 nights as I was now having to find somewhere else to stay and would have to pay top price, she was not interested to know this and told me there would be no refund and no room. Whilst I understand policies are policies I think a bit of allowance for unforeseen circumstances wouldn't go amiss. I had no control of my flight being delayed and had I not received the welcome text reminding me of reception opening hours I would have thought twice about contacting them, their communication was confusing and had mixed messages. More unforgivably is the attitude of the manager even when she knew I had nowhere to go and would need the partial refund to secure alternative accomodation, she was not losing any money and had sold my bed twice. I have used *********** for years to book hostels and I have never received such harsh heartless treatment. Whilst I get business is business, there's more to life than a computer database and rigid rules that don't allow for unforeseen circumstances. The rigid lady tried to tell me it was *********** who cancelled me but this was just a lie,. Thankfully the 'hostel Rosalina' saved my bacon and were a fantastic contrast to ”so cool's awful treatment. The receptionist was wonderful and helpful and her friendliness reassured me Porto was not full of heartless money grabbing robots. Avoid this hostel if you're not going to be there for 9pm or you have any chance of a flight delay. .
