Four Points by Sheraton Jakarta Thamrin

I stayed for four nights, and the experience was truly awful, beyond just bad. Firstly, for the first two nights, the ground floor lobby was under renovation. The temporary lobby was moved to the sixth floor. On the ground floor, the dining area on the left was being renovated, and a bank on the right was also under construction. The formaldehyde smell was extremely strong; stepping into the building, the pungent odor made me extremely uncomfortable. Secondly, the room was very small. The official size stated 22 square meters, but it definitely wasn't that big. The bedside table was right next to a large pillar. The comb, toothbrush, and other amenities were all of very poor quality. Why is a Sheraton hotel priced at over 600 (RMB/local currency) so bad? It's truly baffling. How did this hotel even manage to open? Thirdly, it was incredibly noisy at night. The hotel is located next to a main road, and on the side facing the street, noisy motorcycles would often drive by as late as 3 AM, making it very difficult to fall asleep. The hotel did provide earplugs, but wearing them for too long made my ear canals ache. Finally, and this was the worst part, there's a Hui (Muslim) mosque nearby. 🥲🥲🥲 According to Hui customs, prayers and chanting begin at 4 AM every day, and they use loudspeakers (the sound of the chanting really sounded like wailing, I apologize if that's offensive). The pictures below explain this custom. For all four nights, the chanting started precisely at 4 AM, and it was incredibly loud. I have a video attached, just listen for yourself. I strongly advise everyone choosing a hotel in Jakarta to avoid this one, and also to avoid any hotels located near mosques.
