Lovely overnight stay with great food in resturant
My wife and myself stayed overnight on the way to skiing in the Alps. and the location was perfect at just about half way from London.
Just south of the main town of Chaumont the Hostellerie is in a beautiful little village just off the main road.
I would strongly suggest getting there early enough to eat in the resturant; partly because the food was excellent and partly because there is nowhere else nearby without getting back in the car.
The host, Frederick , has many years experience in the hospitality business and it shows with his polite, inviting and relaxed manner. A lovely man who runs a tight ship. (His English is also excellent if that is important).
We usually try to go somewhere different each time we drive to the Alps but may well make an exception for this place with a pretty morning stroll and sightseeing available nearby if you want. (Viaduct and Charles de Gaulle monument e.g.). We didn't stay for breakfast but we never do, a bit odd handing the key over the night before rather than a key box but hey ho!
