Just a one night stay ahead of work the following day. Our team of 7 were fantastically accommodated by Rihanna who was working the kitchen solo. She advised us of meal delivery and was friendly and very efficient. The food was excellent and I really enjoyed the steak & ale pie. All of our party were pleased with her excellent service.

We recently held our wedding ceremony and reception at Ivy Hill Hotel and words cannot adequately express how wonderful it was! The grounds are stunning and a photographer’s dream! So many locations that provide the perfect backdrop. The interior rooms are tasteful and elegant and can be adapted to any number of guests. The Ivy Suite and Ingatestone Room had extra little decorative touches that we had not asked for but were welcome additions. The canapes and dinner were truly scrumptious and temptingly presented; everyone commented on how delicious it was. The staff at Ivy Hill, without exception, are faultless. They provided an excellent service from the time we booked until the day itself and should be congratulated. We would like to give special mention to Charlotte, our initial contact, with whom we shared many emails. She was efficient and extremely helpful, keeping us updated on all aspects of the planning process. Jeremy put himself out in many ways and is a credit to you. That brings us to Libby – what a star she is! She contributed a great deal towards making our wedding so happy and joyful but in an unobtrusive way. Every wedding needs a Libby! From the time we first met her Libby provided invaluable advice and suggestions and we felt safe knowing she would be looking after us. There were so many guiding and thoughtful moments that are too numerous to list. Thank you Libby. All in all, if you are considering a wedding venue, think no further than Ivy Hill.

Our home from home stay We booked the laurels via my work employee benefits portal but had a look at a few reviews prior to visiting. Let me tell you how relaxing and quiet this stay was. The owner Stan met us at the door when we arrived, was friendly and sociable. The house was immaculate and extremely well presented. Guests have the ability to use the main lounge and a tasty breakfast is served in the morning in the dining room. There was a great selection of food and it was fresh and tasty and cooked to our preference. Our room was the luxury deluxe double and was very comfortable and clean with some little luxury additions of body wash and lotion ( and essentials for the ladies ) The queen bed and pillows enable a lovely deep sleep. The en-suite was a wet room and hot water on tap with some super soft bath towels. I had three showers and hot water available at each time. The brilliant furnishings and home comforts of the room added to the relaxing stay. However I must comment on the host’s Stan and Tricia. They made our stay all the more enjoyable their obvious high standards and pride of their BnB is extremely evident and is the main reason we will be back again in the future. They are extremely communicative and I felt they were available during our stay for anything we needed. We had struggled to get a taxi due to the village location and Stan advised us he would have fetched us. ( next time we will arrange this, Thanks Stan ) The little added touch of the purified water in the decanter in the fridge and the tray of biscuits and selections of tea and coffee in our room felt like a luxury. The Dyson fan was a great addition during a warm evening. The Laurels is a lovely beautifully decorated and well situated place to stay . If you are looking for a home from home break then look no further than the Laurels because it has all you need. I would highly recommend it. See you again soon Tricia and Stan. Ari and James

My husband and I have recently returned from a two night stay at the Limes as we had a wedding to attend in nearby in Witham. Our room was gorgeous (room no4). It had everything you could possibly need….toiletries, iron, ironing board, fridge with daily fresh milk for your tea/coffee making requirements, together with gorgeous biscuits. We arrived latish so the keys to our room were left in the lockbox. After unpacking, we wend to dine downstairs at Luigi’s for a really lovely dinner…….WARNING….the portions are huge and the pizza ginormous!!!! My lasagne was absolutely delicious but I couldn’t finish it, so my husband managed to help me out. Great nights sleep in a really comfortable bed with fresh cotton linen. Down to breakfast at Luigi’s again…..full English and a smaller version was more than we could manage aside from all the cold buffet on offer!!!! Overslept the morning after the wedding, so too late for breakfast, our fault entirely. A wonderful stay, on site car parking, Wi-Fi etc……highly recommended.

This is 5/5 judged on the experience, not that it’s a 5* hotel. I had the pleasure of staying two nights as I was in the area for a wedding. Easy parking, friendly staff on all the shifts, polite, helpful and engaging. The sheets were clean and the room enormous, sure the bathroom could be updated but so what it worked. I had breakfast on one morning which was plentiful. The cooked elements were not the best quality but look at the price and be grateful. Back to the staff …. Clearly naturally nice people, thank you.

We recently enjoyed a delightful afternoon tea with family at Down Hall, and it was a wonderful experience from start to finish. The building itself is stunning, with beautiful historic architecture and a grand atmosphere that sets the perfect mood for a special afternoon. Our experience was truly enhanced by Jane, who looked after us so well. She was attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed to enjoy our time together. It’s rare to find such genuine care and attention in service, and Jane truly went above and beyond. From the delicious treats to the elegant setting, every detail made for a memorable afternoon. We had a fantastic time and highly recommend Down Hall for anyone looking for a charming afternoon tea experience. Thank you, Down Hall, and special thanks to Jane for making it unforgettable!
