The hotel was nice, nothing especially remarkable to note. Staff were very polite & friendly, everything was clean & tidy. The location is ideal for exploring Cheltenham. We were given a complimentary room upgrade which was nice but feel there is much of a muchness between some of the room types. A little annoying that when buying a drink from the bar, some areas were closed so we had to sit in the reception area. Bar prices were very reasonable. We didn't eat in the hotel. Our only real gripe was the parking...arriving late afternoon on Saturday, the car park was full which was to be expected. A permit was organised to park on the street at a cost of £10. We later established the permits/ on street restrictions were only in place for a couple of hours of our stay. On questioning the cost, we were told it would allow us to park until midday the next day - it was free parking on Sunday anyway! This cost was removed from our bill.

Stayed here for one night this weekend. Had such a lovely and memorable stay. My sister advised the hotel that it was my birthday and they really added the personal touch to make me feel special. Special thanks goes to Erin in the spa who was so lovely and welcoming, he is a real asset to your hotel. Our room was lovely overlooking the gardens. Great location to explore Cheltenham as only a short taxi ride away. We had a spa treatment and used the pool area which were all nice. All staff we spoke we were friendly and welcoming. The cookie on arrival is also a nice touch. I would definitely return to this hotel 😊

This was an excellent hotel. Service was great. From James in reception who welcomed us with professionalism and warmth & tips to visit, to the restaurant staff who were helpful and responsive. The chef was great - food was tasty and to a great standard. The housekeeping staff were friendly and accommodating as well. We had an awesome and restful stay. Our dog enjoyed the bed and treats as well as walks in the beautiful grounds. Breakfast was excellent and the rooms were clean, beautifully decorated and comfortable. I wish I could say it lived up to the price-tag of the room... but from my experience, my stay did NOT fully live up to a five-star night away. The grounds are STUNNING. I have to point that out first and foremost. The breakfast room, bar, reception and the lounge are immaculate. The lounge bearing the fireplace and stone walls feel like an untouched visit back to the 1850's, and you honestly feel like you've stepped into a time machine. I was actually anxious about the visit, as I'd had a couple of issues with misunderstandings with the website as I felt that the offers combined with the layout and navigation of the site had been unintentionally misleading. (I thought I'd stepped onto an incredible bargain with the couple's retreat offer, but I was misguided. This isn't necessarily any one individual's fault as tech often has teething issues and I understand this is being resolved). I had also been regularly checking the site and noticed continual drops in the room prices, but the staff would amend this when I would advise them. I was actually originally due to pay £369 for the comfortable double, which is the lowest grade room, but my own research and common sense allowed me to amend this as I later found the same date, and a better room for a cheaper price. It was fortunate I checked the site frequently. I had purposefully booked directly with the hotel as one of the benefits had been noted as room upgrades. Upon arrival, I requested such, but when I advised I was just staying the one night, I was told it would be a £30 charge to upgrade (it may have been pp, but I forget). Had I been aware of this, I would've accepted a better rate on booking.com or such. I was very disappointed to hear this and felt a little mislead. We opted out, noting that I was already spending a lot of money during a financially difficult time. The room was underwhelming, with the electronic access fob being cracked covered in flicks of paint, a very small television for the cost of the room, and an aged writing desk. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the bathroom was lovely, even though part of the handheld shower head was missing a piece of white ceramic/plastic from the handle. I also noted that one of the main light switches on the dual setting didn't work and the knob actually came off in my hand. Positively, my boyfriend was left a lovely selection of handmade chocolates and a card for his birthday, which was a kind gesture. We also had a pleasant view of our little complex of rooms, and the room was flawlessly cleaned and recently re decorated (except the desk). The spa facilities were lovely, and I really appreciated the outdoor pool drinks service! Incredibly relaxing. Intimate, but peaceful. We did, however, find that our eyes were burning after 5 minutes in the jacuzzi. We understand that due to the heat of the jacuzzi combined with bacteria, a higher dose of chlorine is required than in a typical swimming pool, but this was uncomfortable and the

Very convenient location a short drive from the M5 and it has plenty of free parking. Easy check-in with a friendly receptionist. There is a lift, handy as our room was on the top floor (3). The room was a Standard Double but was very spacious and there was adequate storage for our 2-person 3-night stay. No air-con but the windows could be opened a few inches and heating was easily controlled. All was clean, tidy and in perfect condition. Our bed was very comfortable with plenty of pillows and a warm duvet. It was quiet at night with little road noise. The room curtains were very efficient, best set your alarm to avoid sleeping in. Also was desk space with an office-type chair and a long sofa that presumably can be the third bed, a TV, hair dryer and tea/coffee making facilities. The free WiFi was fast and reliable. The bathroom was also spotless and had that clever door arrangement that enables the whole bathroom or just the WC to be made private. The spacious shower was excellent with a shower gel dispenser. The attraction with HI-Ex hotels is the included breakfast, so there are no costly shocks you often get with budget hotels. Unusually, but very welcome, it opened at 6:30 a.m. The food offer buffet was more than adequate, hot sausage, bacon, beans, scrambled egg, plus a choice of cereal, croissants, toast, and fresh fruit. Tea/coffee of course, plus baps so if in a hurry you could make a bacon bap and dash off. If you can't find anything to like here then you really are hard to please! As all the staff were very friendly and helpful this made it a lovely place to stay and I wouldn't hesitate to come back.

This town was outside our plan and gave us an unexpected surprise. It is a beautiful town, don’t miss it. The hotel room is not big, and there is free parking in the yard behind the hotel. The bathroom is a bit short. My husband is 189cm tall and has to lower his head and cannot stand up straight. Our room was on the second floor and there was no elevator. Fortunately, we didn't have to carry too many things up the stairs when we drove. The soundproofing is not very good, you can hear the conversation next door. The breakfast was great and the restaurant manager was very welcoming! Will go here next time.

GGuest UserThe perfect location to rest after all day adventures in The Cotswolds. Central and easy to go off to lots of villages and towns from. And Bourton is close by and divine. Jill is a wonderful host. Her husband does a great brekky (lots of options from fruit and yoghurt) to the full bacon, egg, sausage etc. Lovely views to the paddock, a great shower and bath, cosy rooms, full tea and coffee supplies. Only negative is that you can hear creaking from the other rooms (and your own) but if you’ve smashed yourself by filling the days adventuring about, even that won’t be a bother. Thanks for your hospitality and welcome! I hope to return in 2024.

GGuest UserAmazing welcome at this guest house, visited for my mum's 80th and I stayed in the single room whilst my mum and niece stayed in the twin room. Couldn't fault the rooms which were tastefully decorated. Comfy beds and excellent service from the staff. Even arranged booking a table for our evening meal. On-site parking and only short distance walk into the village (which was picture perfect!) Breakfast was stunning and willing to adapt choices if asked. Will definitely be returning

GGuest UserOn 15th September, I had a fabulous one night stay at this very modern hotel. Impressed by the design of the room and hotel and friendly, helpful staff. I was impressed by the Deputy manager Alina, Callum and Ester who put a lot of effort to help me connect my mobile to the wifi. Despite several attempts, my mobile couldnt connect but was still thankful to the staff for persisting and enjoyed my chat with them. Got great advice from Alina on managing staff :) Thanks to the General manager Ashan (apologies if i got your name wrong) as well for allowing us to check in earlier as i wasn' t feeling well. I enjoyed the breakfast and the range of food options on offer. I would recommend this hotel as its also close to shops and amenities. Take care Nards x

GGuest UserAll the staff were polite, helpful and always had a smile. We had a wheelchair accessible room, which had plenty of space, and the wet room had plenty of handles. There was no air conditioning, which was not a problem during our stay, but might be an issue in the Summer. Only problem was the restaurant. The breakfast choice was not bad, but the hot buffet was not always hot, and there seemed to be a wait for replenishment of items. The menu did not have a huge ammount of choice, and when we met up with friends, who have allergies various items were unavailable. To be fair, the chef was very good and produced an alternative that was not on the menu.

GGuest UserThis weekend we had lunch with a large group of friends at the New Old Inn. On being sat for the meal no one asked us if we wanted drinks - not then or at any time during our meal. Water was provided. During the meal we weren't asked, as is customary, if everything was OK with our food or if there was anything else we needed. Most odd. In fact, those waiting on us, especially the 2 gentlemen, seemed unhappy to be there and were, when passing behind diners chairs or reaching across the table, quite unmannerly and also particularly noisy, banging crockery on the table at the rear of the dining room. Onto the meal - 2 pieces of bread cut in half (for 4 people) on a plate but no side plates and no butter knives so we used our starter knives and ate bread from the tablecloth. The prawn cocktail starter was ordinary but passable. I was really looking forward to the main course - the menu read, 'Gloucester Old Spot Pork, Crispy Crackling, Bramley Apple Puree, served with Roast Potatoes and Seasonal Vegetables' - sounds good! In reality I had 2 slices of pork, both with generous layers of fat and wet, floppy skin. Not the crispy crackling advertised. I politely asked the waitress if she could bring some crackling. She returned to tell me that they didn't have any crackling and that the pork was all gone. Apple sauce came but no serving spoon so we used our main course knives. The roasties (plural) consisted of 2 small potatoes. Descriptively correct, though a little mean, but overshadowed by the 'seasonal vegetables' which consisted of a slice of carrot and one broccoli spear. Again, not a lie as it was more than one vegetable, but they couldn't have economised more, except by serving individual peas! I know portion sizes have shrunk in our current economy but this is taking it to a new level. The desert was apple crumble which would have felt at home in any school canteen. And the price of this gourmet fayre? £56 for 2 people. Please find an alternative if you are contemplating booking, especially if it's for an occasion. We couldn't recommend this hotel and will never return, which is a shame as we regularly visit family living just 20 minutes away and are always looking for great eateries, We won't forget it, though, so we've put it in the 'making memories' pile.

Location is good, very close to the town centre. The English Manor Hotel is very welcoming and comfortable, with a large lawn and wide view. The hotel not only has English billiards, but also a Michelin restaurant, which is very delicious. The rooms are large and tidy, the beds are comfortable, the bathrooms are spacious, and the garden is full of flowers. The most recommended is the hotel's own wine, which is very delicious and sweet and sour.

GGuest UserThis was by far the cheapest accommodation available on Hotels.com for the day of my visit to Cheltenham. Cheaper even than the local inns and well-known chain hotels. So I'm confused by the many negative reviews for the place from people expecting steak at burger prices. Yes, there are negatives. The room carpet sported several large stains of dubious origin, but that's perhaps inevitable when the breakfast is self-service and in-room. The wardrobe door handle came off, but was still usable. The electric shower sounded like a jet engine; could be a problem for some. Into nitpicking territory, the tv was small, relative to the size of the room. Guest parking is minimal, and Pittville Circus has double-yellows. Yes, there are positives. The room and bed were comfortable and warm. There's a bath and a shower; rooms in the budget price bracket don't often have both. Plenty of clean, matching towels and the usual toiletries. As well as the requisite tea/coffee/biscuits, there's also a cupboard containing a fridge, microwave, cutlery/crockery and enough cereal, pastries, juice, yogurts, tinned and fresh fruit to easily feed two at breakfast. The building retains many original architectural features. The place lands somewhere between an old-school seaside lodging house and Mr Bean's bedsit. Secure building/room access is via a code provided upon booking confirmation. I'd stay again. It's somewhere to sleep and at around £50 for the night, you shouldn't expect more than that.
