Chengdu Qingcheng Youth Hostel Apartment (Chunxi Road IFS Branch) Reviews

This hostel is a world class youth hostel in Chengdu city. The location is very good and nearby Chunxi road where the shopping malls and eateries shops are located. There are plentiful street food hawkers around this area. The lobby area is very big like the 5-star hotel. The room and bed are clean and comfortable. They have seat toilets, disposable bath towel and bathroom I love to use.

Stayed 4 nights in 2 person dorm Expectation/Reality: you have to manage your expectations when you pay about 40RMB a night for a place. Compared to the photos, they are generally consistent, other than the bathrooms. The air conditioner worked for the first 2 nights and broke the last 2 nights. Security: very secure, it’s on the 4th floor with 24/7 person at the desk, the room has a lock and there are good quality lockers in the bunks. Hygiene: this is where the cracks are. Hygiene is very low in the public places. The bathrooms are like a frat house and the garbage around the shared spaces might get cleaned once a day. In the morning there was a dirty cup on the dining room table and when I got back in the evening it was still there. The toilets get clogged and over flow with no one fixing it for a long time, the showers need to be bleached. The private bunk area I was in was perfectly fine and clean. Hospitality: the folks at the desk are very young, maybe early 20’s. I asked for a bowl to eat my cereal in the morning and the kid offered me a used plastic bowl and said I had to clean it myself, so I took a glass cup. When I asked to extend my stay, the kid was playing video games while talking to me and told me to do it myself online. There was one guy who was helpful, but it generally seems like the attendants are just too young to be very professional. Social Atmosphere: quite good, there’s usually plenty of folks lounging around and there is a lot of public places, so lots of opportunity to meet and chat with people. Overall: if you’re on a budget and can tolerate camping level hygiene in the showers and toilets, then this place is adequate. It’s very close to the main subway lines and there’s lots of activities and food options very close by. The public areas are social and it has everything a traveler really needs, certainly no frills. If the bathrooms were cleaned more frequently and the public areas cleaned more frequently this place would be excellent.

Surprisingly nice and cheap accommodation in the middle of Chengdu. Just 10 minutes to walk to Chanxi road with the panda shuttle bus or the subway to Chengdu East. Our double room was well located in the last corner of the hostel and we didn't hear much of the rest of the people. But other rooms might not be so well located. Take the elevator to level 4. There are stairs as well but it seems like they weren't cleaned since the building was erected. Friendly staff, nice experience :-) Beer is available. Convenience stores are around the corner.

So convenient to go everywhere and realy close to the metro. Staffs are nice. But Bad odor in the bathroom.

Room is clean but the sound proof need to be improved as can hear the noise from the common area in the room even the hair dryer sound. Female toilet need to be cleaned more frequent. As well as the shower room.

Good location, has potential. Common areas and common bathrooms are extremely dirty and smelly to a point where it is just disgusting to use. You get what you pay for. The bed was surprisingly super clean. Check-in late at night was no problem.

The toilet and shower room can use some improvements, like the pooling of water on the floor.

very clean and nice. the lobby is so spacious that we have lots of space to relax. very valueable for money. staff are service minded. quite close to IFS building in Chunxi, about 600 meters away. only complaint is we walked around almost an hour to find the hostel. we do not speak Chinese, do not have wechat or chinese phone number. it is located on the fourth floor of a building. the hostel should show the picture of the building so it would be a lot easier to find. the rest is just very good that we cannot complain for this room rate. love to stay there again.

Good Location near city center chunxi road. Staff member are also very nice and helpful. It was clean. The only thing was just that the door isn‘t really soundproof, so you can hear people from the floor outside. Overall good stay!!

The environment is truly poor. Even at 2-3am, there are still some people making party noises, which prevents sleep. The bathroom is not really clean. There are not many facilities, and there is no pantry. The hair dryer is always malfunctioning. Don't expect it's a youth hostel, but it is a place for low-quality people.

It's very good, quiet, clean, spacious, and safe to live in. It has a youth hostel style. It is smoke-free and has all the necessary facilities. I like the living room very much. I can lie on the sofa and be quiet for a while. I can stand on the second-floor pavilion and stare blankly. It is very suitable for resting at night.
