Rowton Poplars Hotel

Very confused by the number of 5* reviews as this wasn’t our experience at all. We wouldn’t stay again and certainly wouldn’t recommend to anyone else. Two biggest issues were that the hotel is right next to a main road that is incredibly noisy. The hotel provides earplugs, but if you’re at a stage of providing earplugs then really this should be stated in the hotel descriptions as light sleepers have no chance, not to mention the entire bed shaking as larger trucks go past. Second major issue is that our room was 2/3s half height due to slanted ceilings. As two tall people this was really inconvenient and proved a nightmare when it came to the shower which is tiny due to the restricted full height space. Windows also cannot be opened as clearly the hotel is very close to a farm or treatment plant, so the smell is awful. Outside of these issues, there were other minor ones such a no space to place bags or toiletries, plug sockets being totally inaccessible and poor quality toilet paper. Really this hotel should have its main issues cited on the website, though, as if you’re tall/have a bad back/are a light sleeper then this place just isn’t for you.

We had a family room which was good. We stayed for 3 nights, first breakfast was a disappointment, not cheap bit not good quality ingredients. Poached eggs were solid, I asked for a double potion of tomatoes with my breakfast bap, which had no butter, this was 2 slices! Second morning just has crumpets, cheap marmalade! Third morning we didn't bother!

Room was great, very clean, a little quirky regarding headspace, but loved the fan effect on the towels and toilet paper! Only downside was the vibration from lorries passing. Staff were freindly and the pub busy.

What a fantastic experience. We held a surprise party in a private room. Everything was perfect from the initial booking to leaving. Food is amazing and very tasty. Service is very efficient and friendly. Tasty doggie menu so dogs were very happy. Thank you

Stayed in a dog friendly room overnight after having a surprise 90th birthday party for our mam . Room was very clean and comfortable and great for the dogs as had patio doors that went straight outside . Staff were all fantastic and so friendly in helping us with our party . We pre booked our meals as there was a big party of people, every meal was fabulous and all arrived together. The room was cosy and not too big and creative a lovely atmosphere, would highly recommend the hotel or going for a meal there , the breakfast was also delicious. Never had such good service by a hotel. The meals and breakfasts were perfect and the stay was more than we had hoped for. Close to Chester this makes a perfect base for a trip away. I would highly recommend you try this wonderful place. Perfect beer Garden for a relax in the sunshine.

Staying here at the moment . Lovely hotel beside a main road so a bit noisy early morning but ear plugs provided. Rooms big bright comfortable and very clean . Staff so friendly and helpful especially Rachel. Had dinner and breakfast both of which were delicious. Would definitely recommend.
