We stayed for one night before crossing the border into Laos. Chiang Khong is actually a nice little town with a nice riverside promenade and a few bars and restaurants. Worth a nights stay. Obviously a lot of the hotels and businesses were set up before the new bridge was built and the town was the ferry departure point for Laos. Consequently there are a lot of good deals and Baan Fai was one. The guest house is on the Main Street but our room was set back from the road. Very clean, lots of wood, comfy bed, ac and fan and a small balcony. The room was quite small though. Easy walk to everywhere. Bargain for a night.

I had a message from the hotel 2 days before to cancel my booking. Luckily there were alternatives but I was not impressed. I’d made the reservation on *********** more than a month before. I guess they had double booked. Hello Sir, We have to cancel your booking on Feb 11,2023 because that day my guesthouse is not available. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.
