Club Quarters Hotel, Central Loop

I looked up onto CQ Central Loop's banner unexpectedly and I didn't expect its location to be so central! There were convenience stores and restaurants and Metros all nearby. Front Office was also all ready to receive guests, and very kindly directed me to the lounge when they realize that my check in was a while away. The lounger was a perfect cozy escape from the cold and had coffee and tea facilities and wifi. The room was small but well kept and I slept comfortably.

This hotel is a far cry from the one advertised on the website. It needs a deep clean, making for a only bearable stay if you're never planning on being in the room aside from sleeping. However, the beds are not comfortable so I can't say sleep was easy come by either. Definitely bring shower shoes to wear - no bare feet on that carpet! The front desk staff do a good job selling you on downloading the hotel app, but do not be duped into thinking you might get a free night after gaining the right number of points via the app. You only get this if you make a whole new booking with a special rate from the company. This is not what the front desk clerk told me when I checked-in and I wouldn't have bothered joining if I'd been told the truth, as I never plan on staying at this hotel or with this chain again. (I wonder why I was told a falsehood...!) While the location is great, I'm not sure it's worth the money to stay here. I'd rather have paid more for a nicer experience, or booked father afield for a cleaner more pleasant hotel.
River Hotel

Chicago Loop
We were in town scouting hotels with high school friends for an upcoming reunion, and let me first say that the customer service we encountered in Liz and Ronnie was amazing! The location of this hotel is perfect, close to the river walk and transportation, so we found it very easy to navigate from the hotel. We had a lovely view of the river from one of our windows out of our tiny room. The room however was super small and one had to side step at the bottom of the bed, or crawl over the bed in order to get to the other side. The bathroom was rather small as well, but everything worked and the water pressure was good. The biggest problem was the fact that there was only one working elevator to take guests up to floors 11-35. We heard that the other elevator had been ”out” since March. Not sure if that was a true story, but we never saw anyone working on it the entire time we were there. At times there was quite a wait for the elevator, and seeing we were on the 32nd floor, we didn't feel like taking the stairs. I did feel sorry for the staff as many times they were the ones getting screamed at because the guests were being delayed by the elevator situation. We will be returning for a reunion, but we will look for another hotel with working elevators.

Location is good. Downtown Chicago is also within walking distance and within walking distance of the Art Gallery and Navy Pier. However, the room was smaller than expected.
